FoxShutter: Looks like whoever criticized Zenit or anything else that’s Russian or soviet ,have no clue what they are talking about. Perhaps they just read “something “ “somewhere” or got a 5$ finding from a thrift store that calls “camera “ There are many examples that prove different and the most interesting and photography related examples would be the Jupiter 11 lenses and LOMO LCA cameras . The rights to manufacture the former was sold to Chinese who still produce them and sell to a great success , for hundreds of dollars, on B&H ( on backorder ) and through Lomography stores.
I own several soviet cameras and lenses and all of them , despite their age , are like new and produce excellent images.

all old soviet cameras are german or Japanese badly made copies

ShaiKhulud: Russian native speaker here. Zenit is aiming at international market, and has plans for more lenses (roadmap can be seen in source) and MILC body in the future. Zenit is also choose to cooperate with Leica on Zenit-branded camera body, so expect said lenses for L-mount, I guess.

A few words about their future roadmap:
https://assets.prophotos.ru/data/articles/0002/1059/171089/thumb_630.jpg

2019-2020
*Lenses with electronic aperture control
*Resurrecting legendary glass for modern mounts

New lenses developed from the ground up: 50mm 1.2 and 85mm 1.2 for Canon EF, Nikon F and EA (A-mount and E mount)

Resurrected vinatge glass:
Russar (20mm or 35mm f/5.6, but I guess the latter)
Zenitar 3 (8mm f/3.5)
Zenitar 12 (35 мм f/2)

You're welcome.

"Zenit is also choose to cooperate with Leica on Zenit-branded camera body"

does Leica aware of it?

Protogonus1: No large importer or sales site shows Zenit. If it were purchased directly the duties would have to be paid by the purchaser, and these are a nightmare of time and expense. The best approach may be to lobby B&H and Adorama to take up the brand's importation and pay the duties and do the paperwork as part of the bottom line. Expect to pay another 30%. This lens may still be worth it, though again it would be best to trust in independent testing (https://www.imaging-resource.com). So far, that hasn't been done and may never be done because of vicious (and I think unfair) U.S. sanctions against the Russian Federation and its economy.

Protogonus1, are you aware this website called "Digital Photography Review"?

To discuss politic go to any russian propaganda source like RT and share you admiration for Putin and Maduro

Marty4650: This camera isn't designed to be an upgrade from the EM10 II.

This is just a tweaked, refreshed and improved version of the EM10 II. No one in his right mind would upgrade from the Mk II to the Mk III. However, it now becomes more attractive to first time M4/3 buyers moving up from smartphones, or sideways from other camera brands.

"first time M4/3 buyers moving up from smartphones"

people are not moving from smartphones to the cameras, especially to M4/3..

https://petapixel.com/2016/04/19/zenit-back-first-look-50mm-f0-95-50mm-f1-2-85mm-f1-2/

Anyway K mount camera and K mount lenses like they used to do might be more interesting for me .)

Zenitar 50mm f/1.2 for FF looks promising..

plus at 1200g (2.65lb) in weight it can be used as self defense tool..

Triplet Perar: Most comments on this thread are beyond appalling. At least an old Russian optical company is entering the traditional end-user camera business again, which is formidable and respectful, considering they indeed have a history and legacy. Which US optical company is entering the end-user camera business again?
My guess, and nothing but unconfirmed guess, is that they have teamed up with Ricoh/Pentax. Even historically it makes sense, since way back in the past, many Zenit cameras were Asahi's clones, as both manufactures had access to same patents.

Bolshevik
thanks for links
it is just proves my statement which need to correct

"all Russian "history and legacy" stolen from Germany BEFORE and after WW2..

btw FED 1 is a copy of Leica 2..

and this why Japan is not a Russia..
