stevo23: Canon seems to realize it's a good market to be in. But woa, that battery life! I think if you want to get significant market share in the mirrorless market, you've got to stand out. I'm not sure this is much more than a lukewarm attempt.

it's not EVEN a lukewarm attempt. It's like putting out leftover scraps.

at least the price is low. But it's a super weak entry. Pretty laughable. Basically the ONLY thing it has going for it is the vari angle touchscreen and bluetooth.

I get it. Especially with people in them. That can get iffy for sure. But high res royalty free photos are wonderful for people like me that love to do photo manipulations and composites, etc. And just need a quality picture of a cool tree.....or a vintage car....etc. etc.

Definitely would get ropey for commercial stuff though.

dansclic: An international law should force companies to manufacture smartphones with removable batteries. Is this normal that you cannot’ replace by yourself an old battery on a smartphone by a new one ?

I don't know about the whole forcing companies.........but someone should definitely manufacture a smartphone with a removable battery.

I just want that level of stabilization on an APSC camera.

$1000 though? No thank you. That's a pretty high price for very little end user improvements. I mean, don't get me wrong, the tech is cool......but it's just not THAT cool.

DEFINITELY not worth $999.

And I'm totally an Apple person. I really enjoy using apple products and always have....but the iPhone X just isn't worth it at all.

pixel shift seems super gimmicky. But ya....other than that looks like a nice update.

Josh Leavitt: Well if it's hitting store shelves the last day of November, that should mean some very, very good Black Friday deals for the a7R II

Howard: This may mean that I will finally be able to afford the A7R II.

I know right! I'm hoping I can find a sweet deal on a used R2 now! I was hoping they'd announce an A7iii with some sweet improvements and a more budget friendly cost.

FuhTeng: I just placed my pre-order but I'm going to think hard over the next few weeks if the joystick, touchscreen, UHS-II, supposedly improved AF and better battery are worth $800 (right now) over the a7RII.

10 FPS, improved EVF (never used the a7RII or a9 so I don't know what I'm missing), multi-shot don't mean much to me.

indeed. the better battery, touchscreen, joystick, and dual cards are pretty sweet improvements though.

The other stuff seems like marketing.

I was hoping for an a7iii. Looks sweet, but out of my price range.

coreyweb: Yeeeessss....can't wait. Sigma comin' in clutch. I love Sigma's quality! Just wish they could get that full PDAF on Sony!

why? I don't have a lot of experience with equipment anyway....but the photos I see from sigmas are fabulous...and they're price is fabulous.....the 30mm 1.4 I have is fabulous, etc.

Only thing I wish was a little better was the AF....but 3rd party lenses will probably never be as good as native manufactured lenses.

but ya....
