After the test of time I would agree. While they are both great lenses, I use the 20-70 far more because it’s more useful for the subjects I shoot in city and landscape.

Personally I think it’s a good idea. It’s one of my favorite zooms…IQ, size, weight, and range. You can get close to subjects and because a 70mm at f2.8 gives essentially the same DOF as a 50mm at ...

I have enjoyed the Batis 85/1.8 for many years now. Sharp and small and lightweight. The original version of the Samyang 85/1.4, version 1 not 2 I could also recommend.

I don't like heavy or big lenses, so I knew right away that the GM 50/1.2 and the older Zeiss 50/1.4 were too big and heavy. I first got the APO-Lanthar 50/2 and I can recommend it highly...few ...

The new Sony 20-70/4 G is a fantastic walkaround lens when I know I will be shooting more wide angle. The Tamron 28-200/2.8-5.6 has been the goto walkaround for some time now when I want something ...

Welcome back, thanks to Gear Patrol. Looks like dust to me, though I could be wrong. I bought one of those cleaning kits and I use the blower on the sensor and the brush on my lenses. I change ...

This is wonderful news…and well deserved!

Mine have changed slightly also for the same reason....like you said for all around shooting, the newish 20-70/4 G is now my standard most used lens. The Tamron 70-300 and the 70-180/2.8 are next ...

I prefer Sony Alpha Blog, 4 stars vs 3 stars:

Smaller, lighter, and optically better.

I have decided to keep my 20-70. It wasn’t a hard decision. I appreciated everyone’s comments! Thanks!

I have this lens, the Tamron 70-180/2.8 and I thought about buying used. But one of the reviews I read on this site recommended to buy new because there is a very small amount of sample variation ...

I also have the 24-105, but since I got the Tamron 28-200 it hasn't got much use. So sometimes I travel with the Sony 16-35/4 G PZ and the Tamron. Recently I got the 20-70 and started threads, "How ...

I still have my 24-70/4 and I agree with you. I can easily travel with 24mm as my widest focal length and that lens is quite small and lightweight for a FF lens. I've only had my Tamron 70-300 ...

Another vote for the Tamron 70-300....I've been using mine a lot more lately because it pairs well with my new 20-70/4 G. Here's a snap of my birdfeeder shot at 300mm:

Wow!!! You make beautiful videos! And. it did cheer me up, big time, thank you. I liked reading more about AMZN, (even though things need improving) one of my favorite companies....since your son ...

Thanks for the nice comments! I like the 20-70/4 G the most of the 3. It's really fun to use that focal range. The 16-35/4 G is for outdoor/landscape wide angle. The 20-40/2.8 stays mostly on my a7c. ...
