Darrell Spreen: Congratulations! Beautiful closeup.

Thank you Darrel, had an apt with no west view save for a white stucco building and anything put in front of those windows had a beautiful diffused light spill over it.

Congratulation DB on the winning shot - it does look formidable - the droplets add great charm. Well done.

Rodger in Edmonton: I loved your shot, thought it has great colors and a strong sense of motion.

I agree V, took , there was a program on years ago about these guys and they al said the great joy was the solitude of one with the sky in the silent glider.
You have more guts than me-is your paraglide ride on You Tube - PM me the link and I'll check it out... have you seen those guys in the Wing Suits like flying squirrels? There is a vid on YouTube of a 40ish guy climbing the Eiger and some base jumping kids say " Monkey See - Monkey Do" and fly off in front of him.

Thank you for the kind words and congratulations to all competitors, this one was a fortunate event. En route to a macro haunt - I came across 2 balloons at lift off and one had this guy with his rod. Snapa ... IMHO he is going after Walleye for sure ;o). It was a real estate company balloon -probably a marketing schtick.

I should turn the song on and listen to it and view this photo again!

Thanks Michael - I must compliment you on the hat - Mr. Boone was a great inspiration to us young fellows learning how to stay alive in the bush and camp etc. Don't forget Who Made Who when the headset goes on. ;o)

tbcass: Why not review under $300 tripods? That would be more relevant to most of us.

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/products/Tripods-Support/ci/8159/N/4294543169?filters=fct_price%3A0..300

I would hit YouTube for that and find reviewers who by their words don't appear have a dog in the fight. You will find many reviews of lower cost models and for sure there will be better choices than others at that price point. Then hit Amazon, Google, B&H as another poster noted - there is a 60 " LW on there with 113K + reviews - 70 % give a thumbs up. You have to roll up the sleeves and educate yourself on the best in class for that market sector. AMZN and Google have reviewers that rate products low if they arrived a day late - so you will get the good, the bad and the ugly. Maybe an old survey tripod will suffice - they are robust, usually have a mount plate and are not so heavy.

Hey man - that hooks you to Tommy Edison who zapped elephants to try and beat Tesla in the electricity wars. ;o)
