How many iPhone users are there, who, wanting to increase the volume via the button, instead turned the phone off? Starting with the iPhone 6 the power button is directly opposite.
I have the strong suspicion that a certain previous boss at Apple would not have allowed that rather obvious poor design choice.

"A new 'Deep Fusion' mode, coming this fall …"
Does this mean I should wait until fall before buying? Or will this be a firmware update?

"... stepping motors with DSD® (Dual Syncro Drive™)".
I'm glad those dual ® and ™ symbols are in the article. Otherwise I might think that DSD and Dual Synchro Drive were made up by the author.

BrentSchumer: So why do we still have UHS-1 card interfaces on the A6XXX cameras? Sony loves to throw in the kitchen sink but randomly overlooks the basics.

It's so old it has an autographed bible.

Is it just me or is the sharpness plane crossing the near corner of her right side collar, in front of the zipper?

I think you're right. I prefer a blurred collar. The field is way too deep.

ActionPhotoPassion: 5 legs is a no go for a tripod even a travel one.

600 usd is certainly a joke.

I use a 99usd travel tripod. Specs:

Carbon
3 leg segments giving better stability, less wobbling elements less shaking than 4 or 5 or 6 legs segments
1 leg off-able to get a monopod
16 inches folded
Bubble levels
Hook for bag
Easy ball head
99usd

So where is the 6 times better from this money-laundry kickstarter tripod for real...

Thanks. I'll check it out.

'If you need that impressive reach in a lens that you can actually pick up, this will be one of the only options.'
This is deliberate obfuscation. This lens is either one of the several options, or it's the only one.
So why has the writer done it?

Thank you, @Gesture.
The problem with cameras is you can't text, fb, mail, phone, find north, check football scores, get tweets, order pizza, draw pictures, play cards, find out the name of the song, listen to the radio, watch the news, use Lightroom, or watch the 'Introducing Adonit PhotoGrip video' (which I have done four times, for some reason).
The problem with phones is the lens selection, and the tracking by governments.

Anyone have the Manfrotto 11 litre $60 CSC Messenger bag? Has a mesh pocket for a water bottle and zip front pocket for lens caps, &c.

fjbyrne: So can we get by with one SD memory card slot now? :P

Yeah. That awful camera store on Market St in San Francisco thought my color film was monochrome. Ruined it. Result: no pictures. That was my exhibition done for. Worst part, the guy in the store shouted at me and blamed me for their mistake!! And all I'd done was hand the film in! Totally bizarre and hugely unprofessional.
Told a lot of photog friends in SF and they took their business elsewhere.

"A small camera, designed for enthusiasts and pros".

There's the problem right there. Camera manufacturers - and not exclusively Canon and Nikon - do not make what many people want.

Better: A small camera, designed BY enthusiasts and pros.

OK, this may be contentious, but my reading of compact camera comments (not only of this camera) show that people want three camera attributes:
1 very good image quality
2 weather- or water-proofing
3 viewfinder
It's interesting that camera manufacturers seem unable and/or unwilling to make such cameras. Perhaps they see the demise of the 'traditional' camera with the development of camera phones?

It looks funny. It has a big(gish) body and a tiny lens sticking out of it.

The pics look they are of a woman's hands. Ladies! Are you interested in a bi(gish) body with a small thing sticking out?
