This is one too late of a review.

I like the backlit buttons, something every one can add to their lineup. But again, you get used to them so you don't actually see them.

I kept searching for "Excellent/Very Good Image Quality" amongst top 12 Pros.

jaykumarr: Half of the 'conclusions - cons' can be addressed by firmware updates.

Except that Nikon does not believe in firmware updates that address usability improvements. They would only update firmware to fix "real"flaws.

Don't Samsung/Fuji/Sony (MILC line) provide better alternatives?

nothing exciting can be felt about any Nikon/Canon news. Boring, if it is a kit lens like this. Disappointing, if it is something like Df.

All winners are at the top end of their price range (some are over the top like Sony's P&S). What does it mean? Nobody makes cheaper best sellers? Sigma lens is probable the exception. I read somewhere fast zoom lenses are actually expensive to make.

I definitely want the Oly EM1. Its a very well loved camera and so was its predecessor. My D300s IQ is not astonishing but Very Good. I am sure EM1 will match it without the bulk. Switching systems is painful though.

D1N0: Olympus will win. more fanboys. But no mickey mouse sensor camera deserves the title imho.

I will take "not by much" to be the winner. Reason is size and weight.

techmine: I can't get over the fact that Sony rx100 II is without a viewfinder. It is an enthusiast camera and enthusiasts (like me) have always been critical of absence of viewfinders in their cameras. Picture quality trumps this stark absence? Hard to digest. On top of it, Sony hasn't released an external evf, yet. Numero uno is all right but I can't imagine myself buying it. Nikon not making into any of these categories is a shame.

it is not compact in any way you look at it. And VF does not always result in bump. Check out Fuji cameras or even Sony's own Nex-7.
I stand corrected about the EVF. They do have an EVF now which will work on RX100 II.

jamesm1291: As an owner of the DF, I was was amazed by how much it resembled an attempt to damn with faint praise. Then I saw the rating and saw the reviewer had to concede the excellent performance of this camera in the face of his prejudices. I began seriously taking photos in the 50's through a series of Pentax, Canon and Nikon film SLR's. The DF harkens back to these days and I am unashamedly in love with it. Unlike the opinion the reviewer, I find this camera feels quite solid and substantial. It also has wonderful creative capabilities and provides logical access to them. No other DSLR can surpass it in the excellence of its images. It cries for prime lenses, not zooms.

If you are a lover of fine craftsmanship, appreciate the old days when the photographer controlled the camera and not the other way around, want the finest available image quality and are into walk around street photography and stunning portraiture, this camera shines. The price is high, but the rewards are great.

Agree; this camera takes you to dark ages in fast forward mode. I never photographed with film camera so why should I bother to go back in time that I never lived. Hype and God knows where Nikon is going. Damn, give us a Sony Alpha 7 camera.

PS: I am a Nikon Shooter (D300s and D40).

A great phone but an ordinary camera in terms of IQ. I like the photomerge and very usable panorama mode. Rest is average. HDR from Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5s are much better. Review correctly pointed out about the faster shutter speed but higher ISO (noise). Now all the hopes rest on the RAW shooting rumors.

Ambitious project. As of now, their flagship Nexus 5 is plagued with multiple issues around the camera. As I own one, I can confirm that the autofocus is painfully slow (slower than iPhone 3Gs that I acquired in 2009). Its impossible to take photos indoors. Videos have all sorts of noise/hiss. I just hope that there is a big firmware waiting to fix these issues before we jump into the RAW world.

waiting for the full review. The camera is marred with a lot of problems like slow AF and horrible audio in Video mode. I have the phone and dealing with these right now. A lot of others have the same. But we need a big name review to send a message to Google.
