  • You forgot to quote the part where DPR wrote "All of the cameras in this price range use full-frame sensors."
  • Not to worry, the Nikon KeyMission drone is coming soon. (joke)

  • 2017 will be Canon's 15th consecutive year of being #1 in worldwide interchangeable-lens camera market share, which is a pretty good run. :-)
  • As of their last annual report, 63% of Nikon's sales came from their imaging division, so they can't afford significant problems in that division. (32% of Canon's sales come from their imaging ...
  • In reading Canon and Nikon financial documents: Canon projects that they will have a 48% worldwide interchangeable-lens camera market share this fiscal year. Nikon projects that they will have a ...
  • Created discussion thread Thom Hogan: Perception of Nikon
Thom Hogan is being mean to Nikon again: :-) "Perception is Everything" http://www.dslrbodies.com/newsviews/perception-is-everything.html Me: Nikon 1 is dormant-to-dead, KeyMission is a sales flop, ...
  • In the original announcement, it showed that it has a large phony lens, with a tiny cellphone lens in the middle of it.

  • At the store, what struck me about the SL1 is that it didn't really look smaller than a "regular Rebel", because both bodies were dominated by the size of the kit lens.
  • Perhaps Canon will (worldwide) release a (USA names) SL2, and never release a T7(no i). Canon's DSLR lineup seems a bit "crowded", so I don't know if it makes sense to have both of those models.
  • I wonder if restructuring is mostly a public relations exercise, so management can look like they are actually doing something.

  • "Americans also seem to prefer bigger cameras. Sales for the Rebel SL1 have not been as great as we expected in America, for example. We've received some complaints about it being too small. But in ...
  • I'm skeptical, but it's rumored that an SL2 will be released this fall. http://www.canonrumors.com/canon-eos-rebel-sl2-coming-in-september-cr2/
  • "According to the report..." -DPR

That means it must be true. :-)

Predicting the popularity of a particular technology in 2021 is dubious.

  • I may (?) end up buying a G9 X II, because it should fit in my jeans pocket, and because I am cheap. :-) (One of these days I will have to go over to [USA] Best Buy and give it the Jeans Pocket Test.)
  • I'm skeptical, but Thom Hogan claims: "Nikon has been in fervent rethink mode for awhile now, and what I hear out of Tokyo is that they seem to be coming to the same decision: an F-mount full frame ...
  • Agreed. Compact camera development is on the decline, so they may have put an update off until next year. Source: CIPA
  • Nikon is forecasting a 3% decline in ILC market share this fiscal year, so they apparently aren't anticipating a new "blockbuster product". Maybe in 2018.
  • Nikon forecasts an ILC unit market share of 23% this fiscal year. The last time that Sony reported their (by value) ILC market share, it was only 12%. Sony should sell their camera division to...

  • Eventually, maybe in 10 years or so. Regarding camera production, Canon wrote: "We will not only make advancement in automated assembly technologies, but also change the way products are designed ...
  • I think Nikon should start with APS-C mirrorless, because that sensor size is where the huge sales volume is. If Nikon doesn't make an APS-C mirrorless camera, that's good news for Canon M sales.
