Yes, Stan Laurel is the comedy duo member. Stanley (the town) lies at the foot of The Nut, an ancient volcanic plug.  I don't know where Stan (the comedian) lies :-) FREE TURN now.

Interesting.  It is in a southern hemisphere country. The town shares its name with that of one member of a comedy duo.
