I do prefer the dark background, the dark seems to be better for these old eyes--less glare...Please don't change.

Olivia & Barney, very nicely done, although I find the small camera's a little awkward to use, probably because I've use Hasselblad for so long, just purchased the Canon EOS 7D MK 2, that would be interesting to see your thought in a similar studio setting.
Thanks Barney

On article Canon EOS 7D Mark II Review (1302 comments in total)

Had the 7D when it first came out, this is a completely different camera, I didn't think it was going to work well at the beginning, but the more I used just gets better, just a quick note I bought the 2 Sigma arts series lenses, 35mm f1.4 & 50mm f1.4 and I was sure I had to do some micro adjustments, nothing they both focus just fine. the rest of my Canon lens are ORM.

My Sincere apologies, it was meant to be directed to the more advanced photographer.

The most expensive camera...Makes you a professional photographer; if you teach photography...tell all your students to buy the most expensive camera’s and at the end of the semester you’ll have very few students. And you won’t be teaching anymore. Pun intended:)-'

A pro with a point and shoot will leave you in the dust.

Happy Holidays;....

On article 17 signs that you were alive before digital photography (149 comments in total)

I opened my first studio in London era 1966, (I guess I’m old) and I’m still working…..On some of my jobs when I get asked what camera is that, I end up talking about something else and when I mention about when I used to shoot 4x5 film for my weddings, they become very interested about learning more, but I’m working and I don’t have the time to talk longer.
I think it was a privilege for me to have learned my trade from some of the great photographers…..some still living….some not.
Great article ;)-

You can have the fastest and greatest phone on the market …but I’ve not found one phone carrier that I can honest say the phone reception matches this fancy advanced technology, if that’s; all we care about’ then buy it, but as a phone reception reliability I feel we’ve all been robed.

On article Does your iPhone need a viewfinder? (2 comments in total)

I mostly shoot high end weddings….on my next wedding in a couple of weeks I’m going to do just that….shoot with my iphone…and see if anybody says anything….most likely they will probably not even notice….as I will blend into the crowd of pauperizes that lingers in today’s wedding photographers.

DPReview Congratulation’s …as you know this is not new, but the numbers will grow and its is going to be quite overwhelming, I remember back in the early 60’s when I opened my first wedding and portrait studio, and just the thought of someone coming in with the same camera as I had (Hasselbad) but in those days there was a professional understanding that we where the official photographer,
Now all they have to-do is whip out that little box that is called a phone/camera, and capture the moment at 60 frames a second, and for the wedding /photographer I think is all going to change …and we know that it’s already happening as we speak.(the phone will soon stop rigging)
I had a great run for 47years, and I love to watch how thing have changed for the wave of future technology unfolding….lord forbid if something global where to happed and erase what we can’t find.
