About me:

First job ever at age 10, in a B & W lab, glazing prints. Did a stint as scientific photographer at a University Biochemical Department, then 20 years in a material testing lab. Then became Geographer for ten years before going out on my own
Did the 'large prints in bath' thing before digital came and changed everything .. for the better.
Favorite now is producing large canvas prints.

In our household "House Management" has decided to call itself "The Leadership Group"  I dread what that means.
  • Something is badly out of whack on this site. Phone reviews are two years out of date and Software reviews are apparently abandoned as well. It's a pretty poor state of affairs when such oversights ...
  • It's capital cost against running cost. I think many save for a printer purchase not realizing that from then on you'll have to spend many times the machine's cost, for ink. People don't mind the ...

The reviews here are totally irrelevant to today's (2020) products. I suspect no one is managing this site  anymore because surely it would better to remove the "Printers" review item as it is ...
  • Whereever you go on the web, where inkjet printing is a topic, the major beef is ink cost. So I decided to research the cost of making ink using information around the web on what goes into ink ...

The "Portrait Challenge" is a credit to some of the most brilliant portrait photographs you'll see. What a great site this is to attract such talented people.
  • We printed on canvas on a ipf6100 24" Canon continuously for 8 years and easily produced over a 1000 prints with it. It never seemed to be straining doing the work.

  • Does anyone know how HP's Dual Dot technology lets them do away with LM and LC? I can say that using their low-end Designjet with only four inks is as good as my Canon 6100 was with 12 inks.
  • I use unconventional and un-named ink and media, some from China. I've just bought a Colormunki Photo and created my own profiles.  Best move I ever made in many years of printing.
  • I use an HP printer and unlike my earlier Canon 24", the HP doesn't let you deal separately with each color. Printfab does and I find that very useful. They offer a 30 day free trial. I wish ...
  • Created discussion thread HP Color profiles
My computer self destructed and took my list of HP profiles for the Designjet T120/520 with it.  They can no longer be found on HP's site, or anywhere else I've looked. It seems that for their ...
  • The only info on fade is that the OEM dyes from HP are very poor for fading. The Chinese pigments last very much longer. All subjective. Also, the original HP carts didn't seem to fit as well as ...
