"Gets darker on smaller sensor"
1.Take a pic with 2,8 on full frame.
2. Go to Photoshop and crop picture 2X!
3. It is darker now????

4. YOU ARE AN IDIOT!!!

I just bought G7. Autofocus performance in video mode is the same as GH2. (Very poor and not comparable to Sony A6000).

Geno123: I'm in the market to replace my long time Canon SX10s. I have looked at the bridge camera's finding the Pana FZ1000 too big and wanting a larger sensor camera am enticed by the four thirds segment and this G7 in particular with the 14-140 lens. My main focus is photo's not video so I am thinking why would I want an 8mp photo from 4K video when the camera is 16mp? Is this camera mostly geared toward video?
Ideally I would like a large sensor- maybe 1", 4/3 or APS-C long (24-300 equiv.) in a compact size. I've even looked at the Oly Stylus 1s and it's 1.7 sensor. Maybe an FZ300 with a large sensor or a Canon G3x if they ever make them would be ok too.
Boy I am in a quandry (I don't want to go back to my Canon D30 DSLR days)
Anybody got any ideas that can help me figure this out? Open to any and all suggestions.

Of course, A6000 is much better IQ, especially with 35 1,8 oss or FE70-200 lenses. I was shooted video with A6000 and 35 1,8 oss in real night, 4:00 AM. Panasonic is a bit smaller. But if image quality is not a major issue, then Panasonic is better choice. Maybe some compact, not this big one!

Jurka: A 6000 is cheaper and has better DR, DOF, ISO, Colors. Try it with 35 1,8 oss lens!
Gh2 is good for video, but gh3 not, because it cannot shoot in shutter priority mode and auto iso. Auto iso always locks at high values and stay overexposed. This is reason why i sold gh3. Then i try a 6000 and stay with Sony. Pana is nothing close.

I have bad and expensive expierence with gh3.

For stills shooting i mostly use 5D with 70-200 in studio and A99 with Tamron 28-75 2.8. Excellent lens, better than Canon 24-70!!! Samples here: http://www.portreti.lv/kaitbords-saulkrastos-12-augusta-2013-kitesurfing/

35 1,8 oss is a perfect lens. Especially for video (with nd filters). 70-200 f4 is very good for photo. Also i have 50 mm, wich is not so good as 35, 10-18 oss. 18-105 f4. In real life i use 35 mm and 70-200. When i owned Pana, i always using 14-140, because of very good ois. All other lenses was been without oss and unusable for video shooting handheld. And, yeah, A6000 autofocus ir usable for video, while Pana very often shows "focus jumping". That is a not big problem, because i use focus lock button, while shooting. Sony is better with light lenses and oss. Pana is better with universal 14-140 and best ois in industry. But Sony Cx-900 has it all and inbuilt ND filter also. :) I use A6000 only in extreme darkness, in night. Here is sample footage ir really dark night 4 AM. http://youtu.be/tbr7HxI6vWg?list=UUbdwnsZdvzcRVfhba-LYOMw

There is a big possibility to Gh 4 is upgraded Gh 3, with same sensor, interface and same auto iso bug. For 1600 eur.... Ou, yeah, 4k!!!
