Hi Martin, I presume these are tawny frogmouths? My fading memory for Australian wildlife has taken days to retrieve a likely name (I left Adelaide for the UK almost 43 years ago). In any case very ...

> Sure signiicantly less wide than the 7-14 a fair bit less than the 8-xx True, but the wider you go the harder it is to get a worthwhile shot. It is too easy to succumb to the "get it all in" ...

I used to use the 11-22 as my single lens walk around, but that 22mm was frequently annoyingly short (OK, the 11mm was sometimes not wide enough). My current solution is 9mm + 12-60. Mark

https://mgxp.blogspot.com/2017/03/panasonic-14-42-pz-compact-zoom-lens.html There is a JJC auto cap for the 14-42 PZ. Don't know if it is still available.

I don't know about many. Only the OM-1 and OM-5 would qualify as upgrades, and the OM-5 might be too minor an upgrade for the money. The OM-1 is a significant upgrade, but also in a different ...

Thanks for that comment, I think I will stick with my GX9 and redirect GAS towards lenses. Mark

I would be naughty and take both of these. Easy to fit either in a pocket when not on the camera. Should allow you to leave the flash behind. Mark

There isn't much size difference between the GX85 and the OM-5. The OM-5 is even significantly lighter than my GX9.

Then Daddy gets old and that big monster is too much to keep carting around ;-)

My Christmas party combo was 9mm f1.7 + 45mm f1.8 While I have the 12-60 f3.5/5.6, I am trying to resist adding the 12-35 f2.8 (and perhaps 35-100 f2.8 as well). GAS is so troubling. Mark

I think with the 9mm you are really talking about using it in conjunction with a 12-xx zoom of some sort. In this case you lose very little compared to either the 8-18 or 8-25 lenses. Of course ...

I have both the 9mm and the Samyang 7.5mm f3.5 FE. The 9mm is much more useful after dark (obvious I know). The FE is great outdoors in daylight.

> So it seems that m43 is stuck at 20 to 25 MP. Which is ample for most of us.

Did the gen 1 12-35 do dual is at all?

> Nikon's 24-50 Which is merely (super?) wide to normal. I think the Panasonic 20-60 is unique for FF in covering ultra wide to normal.

> The big negative here is that the GX9 was discontinued last July, Still available here. I don't recall an official notice of discontinuation (unlike the 200 f2.8) from Panasonic.

> DSLR-style with the OM-5. Though at least that option is very little bigger than the GX9.

The 9mm f1.7 was only released about 6 months ago, so I don't think they are forgetting about it. There is also the announced new version of the 12-35 f2.8 - now with the Leica badge. My GX9 still ...

Most systems are lucky to have one uw to normal, while m4/3 already has two (8-25, 10-25). Original 4/3 only had the 11-22 which fell a bit short of normal. L mount has the 20-60. What do the ...
