  • It look very interesting. It's cheap enough that I decided to buy now just in order to help finance another Adobe alternative. Maybe it is useful, maybe not, but competition is useful.

  • I have tried the new beta, and think it has not changed.
  • Replied in On1 RAW
yes, it is not quite as powerful as PS, however it seems like it is closer to LR.  Although the auto choice in LR is pretty good most of the time and saves a lot of time.

Thanks for the pointer on transform as this is close and handles many aspects.  I do miss a couple things in this feature though: (1) auto cropping as the image shifts (can get there manually with scale)
  • Replied in C1 Tools
One really nice feature is the ability to customize the user interface, which is very helpful.  So you can group the tools you use most on one panel, and put them in the order that you use them ...

would you mind sharing what some of these problems are that kept you from using it?
  • Created discussion thread On1 RAW
I see lots of discussions about the search for a LR replacement and it is also a search I have been on.  For right now I haven't found one that lets me do a fully non destructive edit workflow ...
  • Replied in C1 Tools
I agree that the help instructions are written at the wrong level much of the time.  They don't actually show very clearly how to get there.  I just went through a trial period and struggled with ...
  • I just went through the general question about catalogs. I did the C1 trial, and at first blush it seemed like catalogs were pretty similar to LR except they couldn't publish. Well that turned out ...
  • A question about your strategy.  If you use CC, then you can't move back to LR6 without losing all your edits you have made in the meantime.  Is it a better strategy to convert to LR6 now, so you ...
  • Yes this was an answer in technical support today which I quoted. I would agree it has to be an architectural issue.  35k is an incredibly small database with today's tools.  I think you are right ...
  • Here is Phase One Technical Support reply That along with my experience suggests that performance drops off a cliff after that size. So if you want to use larger catalogs, C1 is not the product. If ...
  • I suppose we all work differently.  I do use a large internal drive to store the main images, and then a RAID network server to back them all up with versions, and with redundancy, as well as a ...
  • I agree there are a lot of tradeoffs with different approaches and no perfect solution that does everything I want.  So I guess different vendors have approached it in a different way. I realize I ...
  • Yes I have.  I agree there is a dark side to all the good things about non destructive editing.  But the good side is very  powerful in the way LR has implemented it.
  • well I looked at searching multiple catalogs and found nothing that allowed it.  I also searched in their help system and didn't find it.  That doesn't mean you can't but I couldn't figure out how ...
  • Adobe is making too much money off of the subscription - but I guess we can always dream.  I have full license to LR6 so ok for a while I suspect with no plans for new camera or operating system ...
  • merely referencing existing locations, not copying or moving.  If you do google search this is common problem.  C1 is just not designed for large catalogs full stop.  I think a practical limit is ...
  • I have pretty decent hardware recent hardware on Win10, lots of RAM, and LR handles 150k catalog with no problem.  So it is increasingly looking like and architecture problem with the software.  I ...
  • I was not moving or copying.  I was merely pointing it at exiting directories in a internal hard drive
