Caleido: Sigma did it again. Extreme aperture, extreme fov and still offering good to excellent corner sharpness - even full open. Complaining about distortion is childish. You can fix most distortion, but you can't fix soft corners or bad CA.

The fact most critics are complaining about the distortion, just shows how good the lens actually is.

Yes, you can fix distortion, but then you loose sharpness. I've used a sigma 10-20mm zoom. Zoom range is great for urban work, but there was always a lot of postprocessing to get reasonably sharp and undistorted results. I sold it.

Damn, just bought a D7200 to replace my aging D300s. Guess I'll be selling that one the moment the D500 is on my doorstep...

Great that all these new cameras use the same battteries. Now at least I can use the same spares for my D810, D7200 and soon the D500.

Hellraiser: just wow! keep pushing these great crop bodies and lenses. not every one needs or wants a FF.
two thumbs up Nikon!

What's wrong with Nikon's 35mm 1.8, 50mm 1.8 and 85mm 1.8? All great DX lenses.

I am quite happy with the current version of NX2 (fast, efficient, simple), and I rarely felt the need to use Photoshop or Lightroom.

That will definitely change once we get NX-D. In fact, I will probably have to use PS/LR for just about every picture, which means I might as well drop NX-D completely.

Pity. Clearly Nikon does not understand their customers AT ALL.

PS: still waiting for a D400...

psn: If you're complaining about the price, it's not a lens for you. There's a very high probability you can't afford it even if it's any lower. Move along.

What are you, a billionaire? Or just plain arrogant? I see no compelling reason why this lense should be so much more expensive than the Nikon or Canon equivalent. It's not a matter of being able to afford it, this is simply a rip-off.
