Ibuprofen will be made available during the menu training session.

Not really an issue above iq100...

Congrats to Sony! Well deserved.

Probably 7iii sells more than all other FF mirroless (all brands) combined.

"Except ... touchscreen implentation": what do you need the touch screen for? You take photos with the shutter button! :)

Since there is a custom menu available, plus the customizable buttons, I do not need anything else to set up the camera for my needs. I do not see myself fiddling with the touch screen instead of taking photos....

bernardlang: The Canon camera the Z5 competes with isn't the RP, it's the R. I could in fact argue that the Z5 is above to R on most accounts except for burst speed, which is mostly irrelevant.

ps.: My view of the MILC brands and their strategy today:
"DR OPTICS" Canon has a clear strategy (based on their strength: supreme optics) and follows it consequently. Works hard on their sensors to come closer to Sony.
"THE SMALL AND INNOVATIVE" Sony has a very-very good strategy what they follow since the first A7. Now the competition arrived, so maybe they need to adjust, but they have erverything they need to be succesful
"THE CUTE" Fuji lost a bit the track due to the diversion from their MF system, and now they are quite far behind with lens updates and the AF system.
"THE BIG" Panasonic is obviously after the "I have big hand and gloves" guys...
"???" Nikon tries to do everything. A huge f0.95 lens, rather small bodies, rather big and expensive f1.8 lenses with really good optics, but nothing special, nothing what would define their brand. Don`t get me wrong! I just mean, that I do not see anything like with the other brands. A real differentiator. A vision. A clear strategy...

IMHO the release of the Z5 shows, that Nikon had to change their strategy big time. The crippled Z6/7 (e.g. no vertical grip and weak AF system) was not really succesful and now they needed something to show "power". But. This camera could have been much cheaper, if we really talk about a real beginner`s FF camera. Something like the RP with IBIS would have been enough. Double card slots for a beginner? Really? And for that it is also big and heavy (in MILC terms). But then what will sell the Z6s? A faster AF system will be enough to differentate it from the Z5?
I guess the Z5 will sell good, but if Nikon really can make a good profit with???

And you get affordable third party (e.g Tamron) lenses to it and you get nice sensibly sized Sony primes. Hard to beat the A7III today, and this fall the mk4 comes, so the price will drop even further....

vFunct: RIP Sony.

This is going to sell really, really well, especially at places like Best Buy and Costco, to people getting their first FF camera. Also, the 24-50 is a great selection for that target audience, who are likely going to use it for party/social/family photos as an improvement over their iPhone photos.

@Peter1976: I have no problem with competition. Simply the comment from vFunct was so [I don`t say what], that I had to make a joke...

Sure. I already see the long queues... During the long wait, the people are discussing "look, it has 2 card slots!" and "no problem that it has no BSI sensor" or "I always wanted 0.8 EVF magnification", and at the end they buy "3 for 2"... And this goes on till Sony runs out of sensor supplies for the Z5 and has to go to SpaceX to get some silicon from the Mars...

Somehow, this was not mentioned here: https://youtu.be/E-g800lZMPo

Slowly we can understand how much effort Sony put into battery life and overheating....

And even if it was cheaper, what is the point to mount an (very-very) expensive Leica FF lens on an APS-C camera?

@AndersSJ: But don`t you cut off a big portion of the FF lens`"character" with the APS-C crop? Isn`t character why people like to shoot older lenses?

The on/off switch where is should be: in the ergonomically best position for my right index finger.

Funny Valentine: Reasons why switching to fuji is not possible for me:
- there's no deep grip on the XT4. Ergonomy is poor.
- there's no decent telephoto option beyond 600mm ff equivalent.

make these changes and make everything made in japan and cheaper than FF and I will switch to fuji day 1.

"made in japan " really? If you look around at home, what is not made in China? And frankly, do really the "made in China" stuff used to die earlier/more frequently than the "made somewhere else"? I do not mean the cheapo child toys, but say electronics... Could you check you car: what is not "made in China" in it? The windows, right? :)

wats0n: I kinda wish manufacturers would just split still and video photography into different segments. I don’t care for video, never use it, I am a photographer not a videographer and I don’t want to pay for all the video features that companies are focusing on these days. I think we pay a huge video tax these days and I wonder what a camera would cost if they removed these features from the bodies ?

I agree. Basically 2 reasons why I did not buy the XT4: it is expensive and the flippy screen. I do hate flippy screen, period. The XT3 is still a great camera, I think, AF improvements will follow from the summer...

janist74: 18-180mm or 20-200mm f3.5-f6.3, no IS

@Rolanddigital: because it should be reasonable.
#1 Tamron shown with their FE lenses, that they want to provide something new, and there is no UW superzoom yet
#2 A second 24-2xx would not make much sence in the FE line
#3 if you look at the size of the Sony APSC 18-135mm lens (great little lens), then you do not need much fantasy to imagine how big it would be for FF. Add to this that Tamron is the master of miniaturization...

But will see soon...

You can see the new lens between the 28-75 f2.8 and 70-180 f2.8. Its the same size as the 28-75. Its the one without letters on it.

Its german, but it doesnt matter, the video says capture everything with just one lens. So its gonna be something like a 24-300 or 28-400 f3.5-6.3, because superzooms are Tamrons thing.

I guess Tamron comes (again) with something new, therefore I expect something wider than 24mm. Will see soon. :)

TwoMetreBill: Optically and mechanically it matches the best "pro" grade lenses available. I replaced mine with the 18-135 ONLY because of the lack of close focusing capability. Had to crop a substantial number down to that of less than a 1" sensor. But this problem is common across all the best Fuji zooms. Hence for my X-T3, I'm going with the Canon L lenses.

I just bought a macro extension tube a week ago. Problem solved. :)

In reply to:

FBoneOne: Nice piece but I hope it isn't premature. We haven't seen DR, high ISO performance, AF performance etc... there is little reason to believe those would fall backwards but as pointed out, this is a BIG leap in data processing and speed so some sacrifices may have been made to get there which would deter still shooters, or not. Time will tell. I miss shooting Canon and I'd love a reason to jump back in (and for me video is irrelevant, it will all be about still photography) but such a big leap in video has me a tad worried about how much corners they may have cut elsewhere... The very reason I jumped from Canon to Nikon a decade ago; i hope they are not repeating history (just from a selfish need perspective, it might be right for Canon business-wise).

What? The R5 can take photos???

:)
