I would guess, using the 300 pf and 500 pf as the metric, that it won't be quite as sharp as the 800mm 5.6, but would be equal to the 600 + 1.4tc. Does that mean it'll only be as sharp as a 70-300...

I wouldn't say short-sighted, just restricted to last 10 years (or whatever oldest one is). Camera methods have changed a lot, and film by its very nature would have different ergonomics than a Z9....

Capture One is missing a lot of Nikon lenses, unfortunately. You need DXO or LR to get adequate lens correction.
