  • Sorry... thanks for correcting me!
  • I guess I forgot about that change in Mojave but I've repaired permissions in previous MacOS versions and it often made a big difference. Have you tried a new/dummy user account?
  • Yes, it's strange and I can't think of any obvious reasons for the differences.  The best I can suggest is to create a new User account and play around with it to see if the computer behaves ...
  • I have my 2012 i7 Mac mini (8 GB / 256 GB external SSD boot drive) on Mojave and it's running without any issues.  If fact, I think it's running better than under High Sierra.
  • There is software out there that doesn't replace the DAM functionality (or lack thereof) in Photos but certainly enhances it. https://www.fatcatsoftware.com/powerphotos/
  • Replied in Mini
Doesn't the "display breaks, computer breaks" situation still apply to a MacBook Pro?
  • It still has its original 1 TB HDD but I'm using a 256 GB Samsung T5 SSD (external) as the boot drive now.
  • Aperture runs fine on my 2012 Mac mini quad-i7 with Mojave.
  • Your English fine! Here's a direct cable: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=24444 Or a dongle (adapter): https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=13234
  • Here's what I remember from the time: Mac mini was already on High Sierra when I bought the Samsung T5. High Sierra refused to format the T5 in APFS... would only do it in HFS+.  IIRC, High Sierra ...
  • I'm using a 256 GB T5 as an external boot drive for my 2012 Mac mini.  Works great with Mojave... occasionally crashed under High Sierra.  Could the difference be that it's now formatted in APFS?
  • Is the 21.5" iMac a good comparison for someone doing a lot of photo work?  To me, it's too small a monitor for such a powerful computer, especially when you want to render images.
  • You can buy a USB-C / DisplayPort cable .  Monoprice has them for $19.
  • Probably because they (Mylio) didn't extend their internal testing past 500K images.
  • I look at it differently. A major new release undergoes countless hours of beta testing and multiple beta releases. It's pretty well sorted out by the time of release. That's not fool proof... it ...
  • Those vinyl LPs are going to last much longer than any re-writable BD.
  • As most know, one of the truly new features of Mojave is the ability to run lightly-modified iOS apps in what you might call an OS bridge environment or "Marzipan". Somewhat as a demo, Apple ...
  • I run Office 2011 under High Sierra and can't think of any problems that I've run into.
  • MacOS Mojave supports 32-bit applications, though it will be the last to do so (at least officially).  Have you heard of a 32-bit app that doesn't run correctly under Mojave?
  • The "Download originals to this Mac" won't matter to you at the moment as you don't have anything in iCould Photos library to download.  Only the opposite will happen... upload to iCloud.  You ...
