Interesting that you'll use the LCD and histogram. I rarely use the LCD for composition, my camera is always in 'M' mode, and my fingers and thumbs know where all the controls to adjust ISO, ...

The Yankee dollar is struggling because of a really stupid decision too but they still got their price cut, so as you say, we can but hope. I'm swithering over my A7III order with Wex. I resent ...

From what I can work out, it's not so simple. Whilst the camera that has the more capable AF, wider dynamic range, faster image capture and better low light video will provide latitude for the ...

No worries. The lens FLs I use regularly are 17, 24-40, 35, 35-70, 50, 55, 85, 135, 70-210. That range covers most circumstances e.g the 17-24 range will capture a small meeting room and its ...

After I've been shooting seascapes and I'm home in a quiet room, if I listen very carefully to the powered off camera, I can hear the sounds of waves gently rolling on sand and shells. But yes, ...

You've explained that your fail rate wasn't related to a stabilised sensor so it'd be good to know what the A7III is doing for you that the A7II didn't. Except for AF, the A7III improvements over ...

Fabulous :-) Thanks so much for the feedback. Like you, I too am now 100% sure what my next purchase will be. Cheers ! P.S. In regard to another's comment cautioning against using eye AF ...

Thanks, and that makes sense :-)

Thanks so much for letting me know :-) As I said, I mostly use MF so can live with a restricted AF field on the TAP. It was really just the eye detect AF that was the improvement I wanted. An ...

This (and its expected improved TAP performance) are the main draws for me. I'm not fussed about the new battery as I never had a problem with the longevity of the old one (2 or 3 charged ...

So much better ... do you own both ? I've used an A7II for a few years and it's been a fabulous camera for both paid work and for leisure. Although I'm sure I'll be buying an A7iii soon enough, ...

Thanks for reply, Steve. I understood that some cameras had reached consumers (at least here in the UK). I called into a Glasgow bricks and mortar camera shop on Wednesday and they said that ...

I'm curious to know whether eye AF works with a TAP on the A7III, and if so, how well. I'm an A7II user and make about 25% of my income from photography for businesses (mostly conferences, events, ...

Other - It's the tactile sense of connection to the photo that you can only get from a manual lens, and adapting old ones is really the only way to feel it.

I think you're right. FWIW, I have two Sony APS-C and one (soon to be two) Sony FF and enjoy using both formats. Thankfully, I've never witnessed any sensor format snobbery whatsoever here :-)

Just up the road from Moffat, there's a landform that reminds me (on a small scale) of Highland Scotland's Rannoch Moor and which looks particularly stunning when the winter morning mists lie low ...

I agree with your second point and I'm always at pains to note whether an image was shot on APS-C or FF. I remember posting a specific lens thread here (the Vivitar 17 IIRC) showing examples of ...

Seen through a Minolta Rokkor 35mm f/2.8 on a full frame senor. Conditions here in Moffat a few hours ago were great for northern lights photography with a low half moon in the east painting the ...

As the Sigma Superwide II 24 f/2.8 fits your parameters, it might be worth a punt. It costs less than £50 and is certainly sharp enough in centre at bigger openings. My copy is a little astigmatic ...

I'm another one who's completely unconvinced whether any part of a filmic look can be conveyed on a screen on which its colour gamut and tonal density is going to appear differently and with a ...
