kobakokh: Can someone tell me - is it no place for battery grip? Am I right? Is D780 a big brother of amateur camera D7500 (Of course soon we will have D7800, I predict)? Does Nikon joke with us? FF camera without vertical grip?

No vertical grip on D780. Save yourself some cash and get a refurb D750 for $1079 in US which can take a grip :)

Serjojeee: It's a bit strange to see an AF system from 2008 in the camera from 2020. And no AF joystick when Z6/7 have one. It'll be tough to sell it to D750 users IMO.

You can now buy refurb z6 24 70f4 kit from b&h for $1800...that's something to.consider over dropping $2300 on the d780.

Class A: Is the OSPDAF implementation prone to striping and/or banding?

If so, it would be a shame to water down DSLR advantages just in order to do well at video as well. There has to be a sufficiently big market of photographer who don't want still photography performance compromised by concessions made for video.

Give it time...6 months or so for issues to creep alas d750 :) which I'm now happily shooting for over 5 yrs

SheepStar: I was just saying the other day that I didn't want to upgrade to a Z6 as I liked the 3D tracking AF in my D750, but I wanted to be able to take some video and have it actually work well.

It seems I have my answer. This camera strikes a perfect balance for stills and video, while still keeping things familiar.

Yes.....but you still have to manual focus in live view due to af motor noise or use af p lenses.

Modest spec bumps all around...but bit enough for me to warrant another 2300...I'm still happily shooting my d750.

cheetah43: Quad HD Super AMOLED (2560 x1440) - that's on Note 4, year 2014, price $730
In year 2019, 10th gen. (incl. the disaster gen.) Note offers lower 1080 resolution, price $950 (yes, more cameras, more powerful processor, S-pen blue-toothed - super wide angle is nonsense, anyway).

I still have my Note 4 (now on Note 9) but battery life was horrible, even after multiple batteries. I only paid $50 for it when i was on ATT, unbelievable.

(Regardless of brand, adaptors strike me as being kind of a kludge.)

That's what you stated..see your own comment..jaja
