photonut2008: I just got this lens and after a couple of hours of testing the copy I got is going back to Adorama (solid seller, IMO). I will try again if they can hold another copy for me while mine is shipped back to them. I didn't get the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 copy I wanted the first time or the Rokinon 24mm f/3.5 T/S lens I wanted the first time, so hopefully second time for a third lens in a row is the charm.

I looked at some of the samples here, and if my copy had been as decent as what I saw I might work with it. I tried to even things with the 14mm Samyang but the gap in image quality was just too much to tolerate for a lens that costs 4x as much. One thing about looking at samples here: the view at "100%" doesn't really work; when I looked at the full resolution JPEG it's larger with noticeably more acuity than the "100%" (it's not 100%, it's a sub-optimally resized) view.

I tried another one and it only worked beyond the hyperfocal distance. Whenever I tried to bring anything within a few feet into focus it was blurry. Beyond the hyperfocal distance the lens was outstanding when stopped down some, even fully shifted (things softened a little on one of the two most extreme axis past 9mm, which is still pretty impressive). For my uses though, not having anything sharp near is a dealbreaker. I will probably try again this summer.
