Letting the Ice Bears win the "Art of Monochrome" category is a testimony to how much that art has degraded. The picture tells a powerful story, worth of showing it to everyone. But the monochrome...

@m_black .. LOL. No need to apologize. It was just a friendly public service announcement. ;-)
-
@m_black .. neither in numbers nor in love should you mix up greek and latin/italian.

Just curious, would you write the same about a talented guy, like, say, Capa, too?

Sony is gaining even more.. .. RENTALS. Let's not skew the message, Fotogrofur. ;-)

@Gannon .. interesting. I like all of those pictures. They have this certain type of "Schmutz" that is hard to replicate in digital. But even more so, it would be totally pointless. Pictures like...

I beg to differ. We learned how to time a shot. When I hear the digital natives hammer their 10-30 fps through their cameras I always ask myself who is going to look through all that cull?
-
@Adam007 .. AF is the main reason I have been using mirrorless Panasonic micro43 for over 10 years for my small secondary cameras with single AF. And it is the main reason I stick with my Nikon...

@Gannon, thank you for clarifying the context. It still feels like an article talking about KTM mountainbikes by starting with a lot of text about their fossil fuel powered motocross line, but...

The Pico is not a Linux-powered computer but a microcontroller. It's just designed by the same company that builds the 4B and other models that are Linux powered.

I have a box with all the original neckstraps all wrapped in their original plastic in mint condition except for that first camera. I have paracord wriststraps on every camera, including my...

"The logic is that if you have a 12-bit image that's in scene linear, like your RAW files are [..]" @GenaricName .. RAW files haven't been linear for a very long time. The switch to a log-scale...

@Txoni .. yes, of course, my comment was very tongue in cheek. But as @my-2-cents demonstrated - the concept of OUTPUT scaling is not really understood. Of course the input side is the tricky part...
-
Oh my. It's just a matter of scaling. In 12bit output you can pack 4096 steps of information, so without compression that's 4096 stops of dynamic range. The interesting part is how you capture,...

Oh Yeah! That Jobo taught me more about process control than anything else could. Somewhere between 5k to 10k sheets of 4x5 in four years without a problem and results easily on par with the Pro...

@JohnBean .. the grok was towards how the color pipeline reacts to changes and pictures. And I think it fits, because we have all been trained on 0-255 color editing for decades. New paradigm, lots...
