I checked on some non-IS lenses with the R6. The EF 85mm 1.8 allows handheld up till a full second if you have steady hands and otherwise to at least 1/4. The same applies to the old 50mm f/2.5 ...

No need for me, except one. I could sell the Samyang 14 for a good price and got an RF 16 f/2.8 which is as good but much lighter and more compact. The EF 100-400Lii I am happy with, I can use the ...

I did not notice it beforehand. Now I tried again, plugged in the 65W Baseus brick and it grayed out indeed. But plugging in the small 20W Anker did not gray out. I did another test: I removed the ...

Seven hundred bucks ?? For half that price you get a Canon RF 16mm F2.8 which is compacter and lighter. I had the Samyang 14mm 2.8 for years with the 6D and it was bulky. Finally when Canon ...

Shortly after I purchased the R6 I tried my dummy battery of the 6D on the R6, but it did not work: the camera did not power on. So I accepted it was not possible. Recently I read an article that a ...

Simple solution which I have been using on my R6 for a while: Set ECO mode on for 30 seconds and when the camera is idle, the EVF or display AND the ILIS turn both off simultaneously. Only at ...

Entropy512: You are confusing macOS with iOS, in which the latter is indeed FOSS unfriendly. For macOS there are a lot of open source apps and developments on Github. Tools like Xcode are just free...

I have the Sigma ART 24 1.4 which is a good lens, but heavy and bulky. For an upcoming trip I want to go lighter weight for widefields and the RF 24 F1.8 would be a good option, I would sacrifice ...

I fully agree. I use the 100-400 f5.6Lii as a little astrophotography APO as well. Versatile: it is a Redcat 51 and a WO Quadruplet 65mm f/6.5 in one OTA of 1.6kg, just dependant on the zoom setting. ...

Well, not for macOS yet, but I have 5.8 on my Mac. I tried 5.9 under Linux and worked, but only on Intel Linux, there is no arm64 (aka M1) version.

DSLRs have a strap to hang it around your neck which can be very useful in astrophotography as well. Last week I did astrophotography using my Canon R6 with a 70mm APO (EF 100-400 F4.5-5.6L zoomed ...

Get a bright 85mm as you mention, but the 85/1.4L is indeed heavy, the RF 85/2 or EF 85/1.8 are good options. I use the latter for astrophotography which requires even more low light capability.

You mean the 6D(Mk2). Like the 6DMk2, the R6Mk2 is a minor update. Only 6D => R6 is a major update.

Why not a Linux version ?

" And never apple with their closed ecosystem." Depends on what OS. If you mean i(Pad)OS, you are right. But if you mean macOS it is almost as open as Linux. I have a Macbook which runs Linux...

A weak upgrade. Few improvements, same as with 6D and 6D Mk2, of which the latter has even a worse dynamic range than the 6D. Probably that won't be the case with the R3 BSI sensor, but I think ...

The .mp4 format is now ubiquitous on most platforms. The .mov format is somewhat outdated. Almost all modern cameras issue mp4 and almost all video editor and viewing software accepts .mp4 as well.

I have the 8-15mm Fisheye with the R6. No issues at all, works fine. The AF is however a bit obsolete for such a short focal length. Note that in video, the top and bottom of the circular image of ...

I'd say firmware of most cameras is usuallu OK after release, I barely have had software problems, only a few minor ones. Smartphones have much more software bugs and the manufacturers use ...

Megapixels does not say much. The iPhone 14 has actually 12MP which are pixel binned, 4 pixels make actually one single larger pixel with higher quality. It is partly a marketing trick. MP = ...
