I use a Ricoh GRIII for travels, an X-H2S for birds and sports and an X-T3 for everything else. I find it hard to remember each cameras buttons and dials when switching and sometimes consider ...

That's interesting. I googled and found this: https://www.thespruce.com/buzzards-vs-vultures-4171318 "Early colonists called the large, soaring birds they noticed in North American skies “buzzards” ...

Hi Morris! I'm not sure about the name in English but this is the one I think it is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_buzzard

I've passed this buzzard several time sitting on the same street light . It ignores all the cars and trucks passing by below but as soon as I approach with my bicycle it disappears. Today I ...

Thanks a lot for taking time to write this down. Great advice. I used flash for events 15-20 years ago but that was mostly dancefloors and the flash was on all the time (shutter drag was the ...

My friend asked for portraits, pictures of the ceremony and of the following party. There will be around 70-80 guests. This is the venue: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=5641268975971938&ref=sharing

Thanks John. Good point. I shouldn't spend my time switching gear.

Thank you! Yes, I will use an X-H2S and an X-T3. Unfortunately I just have one speedlight so I'll have to use that on both bodies.

I will photograph at a friends engagement party. It will be indoors. There will be some kind of ceremony and party as well. I'm considering bringing the 18/1.4, the 33/1.4 and a flash to bounce. I ...

Thanks for your input! I totally agree about switching to Fuji. I really hope they make a 400/2.8, preferably with a built-in teleconverter a la Nikon. /J

Thanks, Alan. Beautiful picture. Your set up is interesting. I never used pre shot or focus limiter but will give it a go. When using aperture priority, don't you feel a need to control the ...

Thank you, Cathy. I tried bird subject detection with wide tracking, zone and single point on a picture of a bird. As far as I understand subject detection works with all of them if you put the ...

@Samuraidog This is great. I’ve done the same now. Two identical custom settings except that the focus in custom 2 is zone with subject detection and custom 1 is single point. Thanks!

The settings worked very well. Thanks again for your advice! One question: I used zone autofocus with subject detection and had a button assigned to toggle subject detection on and off. Is it ...
-
Thanks, Morris! Appreciated. I got the impression that subject detection didn't work very well for small birds surrounded by branches and leaves. With the X-T3 I use single point autofocus for such ...

How do you set up your X-H2S for bird photography? I'm using custom 5 for flying birds and custom 6 for sitting birds, the main difference being the auto focus methods. For flying birds I've got ...

I always end up leaving my Fuji gear in the hotel and using my Ricoh GRIII. A 28mm or 35mm equivalent on the smallest body would be my choice.
