I was hoping they'd release it at similar price points of previous generation products. But like the smartphone industry, they just keep increasing the price instead.

timo: In the absence of a viewfinder, I cannot quite see the point of this camera. Yesterday's formula, it seems to me, despite the good image quality. It looks pretty enough, in the nice clean way of the pioneering Canon compacts of old.

i disagree, i'd rather have a nice giant touchscreen vs. an optical or OLED viewfinder... i haven't had trouble shooting in bright sunlight either..

it's too bad the RX100M3 has a viewfinder, unnecessarily raising the price

we all have an opinion... and we can all vote with our wallet

ShadowVlican: glad they are mentioning GAMUT... this means more consumers will know what it is and finally look for this spec when making decisions, which in turn forces manufacturers to compete in this arena (which hasn't been done yet)

@nachos Web content issues are easily resolved by browsers dictating what profile to apply in place of empty profiled images. Firefox has a mode to default everything to sRGB unless the image comes with a profile. I don't know if Chrome has improved its colour policies though. There's no reason to hold back the evolution of wider gamuts for the people who don't know how to use them.

SergioBR: Note 4 for me is better ! Better camera, s-pen, better low light peformance etc

the note 4 is superior, but i don't discount the iphone6+ 8MP sensor and processing... they've done a superb job with it

GlaZZ: Thanks for the review.
It's amazing how 8MP 1/3-inch sensor camera can beat other higher pixel larger size smartphone cameras such as 20.7 MP 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS on Z2 and 1/2.6-inch 16MP BSI CMOS sensor on S5.
How much difference does the software make in this case?
Look forward to Z3 and Note 4 reviews, though I already decided on Note 4

thanks for that link! judging by the photos there, the note 4 consistently DOMINATES, and you're right about the Z3: still water coloring on low contrast areas like foliage/grass

it's because Sony screwed up their JPG engine on the Z2... it tends to think the world is painted with water colour... i believe they fixed this in the Z3 (check out GSMarena studio shots)

buitenkunst: First thing I notice is that its a camera for right handed people, like most camera's. This is pretty awkward for left handed people wanting to shoot holding it with one hand.

well it shouldn't be too hard to use your right hand to operate the camera...

i'm right handed but i shift with my left....

Indeed... Dpreview really lags behind other sites when it comes to reviewing new phones asap. .. Perhaps they aren't important enough in the tech world

their detail/texture tests are a joke... Sony's JPG has a bad habit of turning vegetation (trees, grass, etc) into watercolor mush. In other words, it cannot handle low contrast textures well.

specs old or not, i'm still interested in how it compares with the older iphones and current androids

be sure to get one and review it asap!!! connect.dpreview always seems to take much longer to review a phone than other tech sites :(
