openskyline: the price for 24-70mm II is $2,299, so expensive for a lens without IS.
I will buy a Tamron 24-70 VC instead. Stupid Canon

I will just buy a new Canon HD video camera which has a 24-70+ F1.8 L-series IS lens built-in for $2300. For my still shot work I will just get the Tamron 24-70 F2.8. For a little more money I get the best of both worlds.... No way am I paying $2300 for a 24-70 F2.8 II when I already have the Canon 28 1.8, 35 F2.0, 50 1.8 85 1.2L and a Tamron 28-75 F2.8....

Steve oliphant: oooops 82mm filter tilt no good waste of money the filter will kill you trust me i know i sell them ................

I suspect the larger filter size is to get better edge sharpness for Full Frame camera's. DX camera's only use the center portion of the lens. However, us Full Frame users uses the whole lens and if making the lens wider give me better edge sharpness as did the Canon 24-70 F2.8II then so be it.
