  • I would like for the configurations to keep recent settings (long discussion why here ) , but your solution would meet my needs.  Would be easier for Olympus to implement and for users to understand.

Just pointing out an alternative. If it doesn't work for you don't use it. Changing focus size isn't a high enough priority for me to assign a button to it.

You don't need to us the magnify mode to get the small focus area. Use the touch screen to set the focus position, this enables a slider on the right side of the screen that allows you to set the ...
  • Thanks for the table from Pen and Tell.  I will  copy that to my phone. I have been experimenting with C-AF + tracking. It loses track and locks on to other stuff pretty quickly. With AF scanner ...
  • The 14x super spot AF isn't small enough?  I seems to work pretty well. I think the custom settings would be much more useful if changing modes didn't also reset everything. I would like to be able ...
  • Replied in Hawk and Eagles
These were a bit out of range and in poor conditions, but even without sharp feathers, and lots of noise, I like snapshots of birds maneuvering. Redtail Hawk (I think) hunting hanging on the edge ...
  • This is how I think the AF scanner works.  When in mode 3 (active) when the camera loses focus lock it will cycle the lens through it's focus range to try to reacquire it. When trying to track a ...
  • There is a range finder built in the M1.2.  Setting the preset MF will display focus distance. I guess I didn't need to buy that laser range finder.
  • I don't mind using the mode dial to change modes. What I don't like is changing configurations is also a reset, loading the configuration baseline.  I usually make a few changes to match current ...
  • I wouldn't recommend anyone invest in four thirds lenses, but I was thinking about the SHG lenses, in particular the fast telephotos. With the EM1.2 Olympus is finally competitive in the wildlife ...
  • It will be interesting to see what this does to the used market. Everything going so quickly shows that there is demand, and the supply might now be gone. Prices could go up. They may have met all ...
  • A large percentage of my photos are shot at the ends of the zoom range, but usually for different reason at the wide than the tele end. I shoot at 12mm frequently because I like the focal length. ...
  • I can see that, and since it seems like most people prefer it. Olympus could make it configurable, and the default being reset to known settings. There are a couple of user interface features that ...
  • If dpreview didn’t have the forum activity notifications I wouldn’t have noticed anyone replied to this thread. It flew off the front page pretty quickly. After using the EM1 mkii for a couple of ...
  • I tried it with the Panasonic 15mm.  Tried high res mode, and checked the different channels.  I couldn't duplicate your problem.  It was just a quick test, but it sounds like it is pretty obvious ...
  • On the M1 mark II, the 12-40 is compatible with pro capture and focus stacking. I have the 12-40, like the PanaLeica lenses that I have, and would prefer the extra focal length over the slightly ...
  • Yesterday I had a couple of other telephotos out.  I was using OI.Share as a remote, and didn't get high res shots.  Just a quick test, but the SHG primes look a lot better.  I'm not sure what ...
  • Replied in The 100-400
I didn't mean to take anything away from the Panasonic lens.  I have been getting really good results from mine. With the E1 mk II it is a great package for wildlife, but if you look closely it is ...
  • I thought about trying high res mode on a very accommodating owl, but not really many opportunities to use high res with the 300. I don't have the 300mm F4, but I here is a quick comparison ...
  • Micro four thirds has a wider selection of lenses. There are lower cost options that are quite good, so the premium lenses don't have to try and cover more cost-conscious customer.  The micro four ...
