voronspb: It looked like "just another useless upgrade and price bump" until I saw the microphone socket. Now this camera really makes sense.

Is there a hot shoe mount?

ovatab: this upgrade strongly supports my conspiracy theory about camera manufacturers secret pact to avoid perfect cameras on the market

every new camera must be slightly crippled

I agree with you.

G5X II: EVF but no mic input at all

G7X: Without EVF but with mic input WITHOUT hotshoe to attach it. Also slightly limited lens compared to G5X II

Both cameras: limited 4k time, without 24p
Sorry Canon. I had high expectations. Manufacturers want us to buy one product per category when they could produce an excellent all-in-one. Still they pretend to care for the environment.

Hypocricy in all its glory.

2eyesee: So we can have either a viewfinder or microphone jack - but not both?

It seems to me it would have been much simpler just to release one model that had everything. A shame really - such a camera would have been perfect for me.

I agree sir. Such a shame, I was waiting for years for an advanced compact camera with mic input. And canon chooses not to include one in gx5 ii. Shame. Let's see what sony will do with next rx100. If they include a longer lens and mic input I am sold. Shame for you canon...

Joe Ogiba: I wonder why DPR never had news on the 25mm version when it came out.

Sorry I have to mention that you carry tonnes of stupidity
