If cost is not a consideration and you don't find yourself reach limited (meaning you have sideline access) then I would go R5.

Finally getting started for the 2022 season.  Chance to try out the new (to me) EF 70-300L

I have the Godox 350 and it has worked well for me on several different bodies

Been seeing lots of nice shots with the RF 100-400 from both crop and FF bodies.  Looks like a pretty darn good lens from Canon.

I agree with the EF 70-300L but the newest EF 70-300 II NanoUSM is a nice lens for about $550 new.  I have been happy with the images from it on my R6

The 200-500 should be great for outdoor field sports.  Since it is youth soccer, I assume that you can pretty much position yourself wherever you need to be the accommodate your focal length.

I bought a used copy as a lighter back up to a EF 100-400L.  I do mostly outdoor stuff so the speed is not a issue.

Nice shots.  I agree that the EF 70-300L is a great lens, maybe a bit under-rated

I would go the ML route if you are planning a update now.  That seems to be the future trend.

I don't know about the other cameras on your list but if you are going to do any significant amount of sports stuff, the 6D is not the best for that.

Thanks!  I had read about this lens and since I can not afford a EF 200mm f2, I thought I would rent it and give it a whirl as a poor mans 300mm f2.8 (on a crop body)

Canon R bodies work fantastic with EF lenses and adapters.  I would go that route.

I need to take my EF and L versions out and shoot them side by side on the R6 at some point.

That would be about perfect.

The R7 seems to handle higher ISO so well that I would not really worry about it shooting outdoor sports in daylight
