James Bligh: Generally speaking, the pictures are flat. I feel a certain character is lost in pictures of GR3 when we already have lost uniqueness in interface. I too think GR3 has become one of the many digicams as MrHollywood claims.

N.B.: RAW is baked in GR3 and I suspect that may be a cause of the flatness of pictures.

Dpreview reviewers may have done their best in postprocessing DNG files of GR3 which are cooked already and we see the result of it. I don't think they had intentionally made pictures flat. Again, what we see may be one of the best we can get. Lastly what I have told about flatness of pictures applies to both RAW and JPEG.

I think GR3 is a ****.

How is it in Canada? I mean the policy.

No questions asked return policy does not apply in the country where I live. My knowledge is that the policy applies only in USA and certain countries in Europe.

I correct Canon Powershot S100 to S110. BTW d-pad of S110 is very similar to that of GR3. It has a wheel in the perimeter of d-pad just like GR3 does. So it is an old design and Ricoh botched it.

I may add this. All the digital cameras I have owned, I guess it is well over a dozen, have never shown wobbly d-pads. For example, the d-pad in my Canon Powershot S100 is in perfect order and works perfectly fine. Time will tell what this GR3 is but it has revealed not a single issue but various issues already. A soldier in a battlefield must be confident in his weapon. I may be a soldier who has lost confidence in his firearms and it happens soldiers reject government issued firearms.

P.S.: I have a GR2 and I think GR2 is a better product than GR3 is. At a half the price as you may know.

gravis92: griii in raw is very very good. Jpeg is prioritized for a specific tone/colors/feel, not sharpness. That is my assessment anyway

In the course of NR something inevitably for example the detail is lost too. Once the information is erased/gone you cannot recover the lost information. That’s why while jpeg is tailored by the company of the brand the RAW is untouched. At least that has been the tradition I may say. But now some companies seem to bend the rule. Is this good or bad? Opinions may differ but I think it is safe to say it is not a usual way.

GR3 images show prominent color desaturation and peculiar skin tone both in RAW & jpeg. You may compare it with Nikon D7200 images which I think is best among its peers sensor-wise.

N.B.: As you may know RAW is cooked by a pre-processor which is employed in GR3. I think color desaturation is the result of NR applied to RAW.

Anybody can state a personal observation or first impression but review requires time, expertise and gadgets to fulfill it. And we want to read good reviews. That’s why we rely on reviews from reliable sources one of which dpreview is. So calling this a review is a shame disgracing the reputation of dpreview established from the early days of digital photography. I am sure Phil Askey must be disappointed by this low grade stuff to be called a review in dpreview site.

Ricoh seems to have got away with flash in GR III just like Nikon did in D850, D500 forcing us to buy a separate flash unit, camera manufacturers are greedy they are milking away our money.

Looks like there is no flash in GR III, first you cannot see a flash in the photograph of the front of GR III, second Built-in flash No in Ricoh GR III specifications (preliminary), third the camera at 1.37 and 3.00 in video seems to be GR II not GR III.

LFPCPH: Here is an old article about the new Nikon mount. It seems to be correct since until today there has been no information saying something else.

https://www.dailycameranews.com/2018/01/nikon-full-frame-mirrorless-camera-rumored-feature-z-mount/

And here is an article from today 2018/8/14 saying Nikon full frame mirrorless cameras will be called Nikon Z6 and Nikon Z7 and pictures. Also some info about lenses.

https://www.dailycameranews.com/2018/08/confirmed-nikon-z6-and-z7-full-frame-mirrorless-cameras-coming-on-august-23rd/

More specs here : (spoiler alert !) (could be fake news though)
http://www.mirrorlesstimes.com/2018/08/nikon-full-frame-mirrorless-camera-rumors-recap/

Enjoy :-)

https://nikonrumors.com/2018/08/12/this-is-how-the-back-of-the-nikon-mirrorless-camera-looks.aspx/

In above site a diagram appears first and then two pictures and three photos appear after text. I will designate pictures and photos as picture 1, picture 2, photo 1, photo 2, photo 3 as the order of appearance(I mean from above to below).

In picture 1 button layout is very crowded and the shape of '1 Dial' in photo 1 looks very similar to the dial in picture 2. So picture 2 looks more authentic to me. If I am right AF ON button and/or Function button is missing in Nikon MILC Z6 and/or Z7. We will find out the fact soon however and I hope I am wrong.^^

I was mistaken. In Nkon D700 too as well as D800 you can change the settings in back LCD screen. Of course for some menus however limited they are which appear in back LCD.

More News... ;)

AF ON button missing, I cannot see any Function button. It definitely says Nikon MILC as we are seeing is a consumer model. Perhaps Z6 is a consumer model and Z7 is equipped with pro features?

In consumer model Nikon DSLR AE-L/AF-L button can be configured as AF ON button. So I guess AE-L/AF-L button in Nikon MILC can be configured as AF ON button too. Still it means Nikon MILC is a consumer model. It is a pity.

-- AF ON button is missing. AF ON button has been employed only in pro model Nikon DSLR. In that regard Nikon MILC is a consumer model? Even Coolpix A has Fn1 button which can be configured as AF ON button. I will miss AF ON button in Nikon MILC.
