Jorginho: Cam is probably not the best at one thing so like panny g9 and xh1 it is probably a serious shortcoming and not worthy of a gold medal....

The wounds are yet to heal I see...

Jorginho: Just wondr how the Canon MArk IV got a gold award and the Panasonic G9 not. I wonder what the reasoning is everstill. Personally I love the Canon 5D Mark IV but when we look at the specs it is clearly better than the 5DMarkIII but it had nothing over the existing D810. The existence of the Em1.2 and D500 prevented the G9 to become gold. Also we see the focus problems with the Canon. so that is not really great either. The sensor is very good but worse than the D810 etcetc.

Nothing over the D810? Really? How about Much better Video Specs and Usable Auto Focus in Video.

Joed700: Although I shoot Nikon, I think the Sony a7rIII is a better camera because it has a higher ISO performance plus the ibis. It means more keepers for me.

I apologize about the "crying" part, but I am glad I made you laugh, you seemed very upset about the many A9 articles. (jk)

You keep posting in a lot of A9 articles about how dpreview does a lot of articles on the A9, you keep counts on the articles / reviews on the A7RII :-)
Now you are implying it is okay, since you said above "I don't know who said A9 and A7RII should not get attention," Yes, they are getting a lot of attention and hence the articles.

@Jorginho - It is very easy to see that from your posts.

Sony A7R was a flagship when it came out and dpreview exposed a lot of it's problems. I don't see much Sony A99II articles as well which is a current flagship model, and it did not get an overly positive review as well. How about that being on your point? The remaining 2 flagships, The A7RII is an amazing camera which really caught everyone's attention when it came out, just like the A9 is doing now. Dpreview would be foolish not to report on them.

Anyway enough said, feel free to keep crying of not getting enough attention

@Jorginho I guess for you its not really about the K1 isn't it. Its about the GH4 and GH5 and how you feel dpreview neglected them.

Some camera's receive extra attention. A7R II (at its launch) and A9 now are very exciting cameras to a lot of folks and of course I find it very natural that dpreview tries to get much coverage for them.

I don't see you complaining about A7r, A7, A7 II, A7S, A7S II A6500 A6300 e.t.c. If somehow you sense a Sony favoritism then why didn't dpreview focus more on them as well?

@Jorgino, Dpreview knows the statistics of how many readers read what type of articles and what brands get the most clicks and they try to maximise their readership and profits. After all you are not paying anything to them.

Looks like Sony A9 pre-orders are still going on strong in B&H. # 1 in B&H Best Seller list.

KubeKube: In brief Sony did their best to milk the cow both ways. All A9 improvements were certainly available during the design of A7RII but the company' executives decided to release them piecemeal to make sure they can squeeze the pockets of all hapless Sony 'believers'. I'd give Sony A for technological audacity and C for their ruthless marketing strategy.

Ever thought about why Car manufacturers update their cars every year?

sts2: In what universe can a 300/2.8 be replaced by a slow 100-400mm zoom for a sports photographer?

I'm seriously beginning to suspect DPR is getting some marketing $$$ from Sony to push this product. Just stop it, it's embarassing. It's a great camera and to me all this nonsense publicity is making it look worse actually.

Everything has to start somewhere.

BenInUK: How can you say the Canon 300mm 2.8 is equivalent to the Sony 100-400mm 4.5/5.6. That's 2 stops different which for sports where you typically want a fast shutter speed makes the Sony a non-starter.

"Sony does not yet have a 300mm F2.8 – the closest lens they make is the new 100-40mm F4.5-5.6, which is far from a perfect substitute. "

rrccad: only 2 a9 batteries purchased? a little lightweight no?

also yeah.. comparing a 300/2.8L against a 100-400 GM is probably pretty skewed.

then you have the fact that with CPS and NPS you don't necessarily have to buy all your esotoric lenses, while with SPS being relatively new, there's a good chance, they aren't going to be out in the field with as many lenses for loaners while you are there at the event as the forementioned two major services.

They make it very clear it is not fair

I think you need to read the article with a clear mind because this is what I read

"Sony does not yet have a 300mm F2.8 – the closest lens they make is the new 100-40mm F4.5-5.6, which is far from a perfect substitute. "

Why you are trying push people to this camera.
Why the head line is considering Canon only..then after 2 sentences you mention nikon.
If i were Canon i should object to this article.

You and I interpret articles differently.

PerL: The credibility is on unchartered territory now. I have never seen a similar article in any journalistic publication.

Sony comes out with new Camera and promote them highly and mentions pro photographers switching Systems to Sony. DPR goes out and talks to actual pro photographers and comes out with an article giving a good break down of the costs involved in switching, mentioning which lens a pro photographers is like to use and see which of them are available for Sony and which ones are not. They stress immensely that camera is only 1 part of the equation

"Then again, the camera is only one part of the equation. A 20 fps bursts with continuous AF and no black out seems nice, but if you don't have the right glass for the job, that spec won't get you far."

And you think they are somehow Pro Sony.

I appreciate DPR for not following the Sony marketing claims and for actually taking effort to list down the Costs in Switching so it is there for everyone to see and draw their own conclusions

Please chill,

JunzInc: A9 sits currently on top of B&H's rolling window digital camera best sellers list. I know it is initial days, but a $4500 Sony camera climbing to # 1 best sellers list tells that there is definitely a lot of interest in this camera. Let's see how long it lasts.

Yes, right. I was looking at a cached page.
GH5 is selling very well at B&H. Much better than the EM1 II
