@AlanG you got to much hate in you. Relax, your nightmare is over. :)
I think there is only 1% of users still shooting film cameras. In my country you can't even spot a DSLR or a mirrorless user. All the people are taking pictures with their smartphones :D

snapa: If anyone can show/prove the percentage of people shooting digital vs film today, I think that would answer the question why they will be going out of buisness. How much would it cost to process 100 8"x10 pictures in film vs digital pictures? Also, how much time and effort would it take to get those pictures?
Shooting film is almost like shooting DSLR's vs MICL cameras, DSLR's are a thing of the past. Get with the times or live in the past, your call.

@ovengloves, yes you are right, it's only a minority of mirroless users, that is why Canon and Nikon, released FF mirrorless cameras :) Like someone said, dslr and mirrorless are more alike, I only regret film cameras, because they offer a different experience than digital.

@MDRCHINA Do you actually read what you write? :))) "USA democracy is not in business to enrich China communist party" ? Oh, really ? :D
I guess all this time and all those factories in China were there to suppress the communist regime! :)))) Get real! This isn't about democracy or communist, it's all about the moooneeey!

Frank Scallo: Skin tones are subjective obviously... but man do I hate Sony's tones... and I own two A7iii's. They either don't realize it or are just being bullish on it... like the af point gray color. I have a great idea... keep the jaundice skin tones Sony but give me alternate portrait and standard presets with the yellow turned down please. Yes, I know we can adjust the tones in LR but that does effect other tones in some images. Not a perfect solution / adds more work.

Strange! There is a video on youtube about who has the best color science. They made a poll with samples from Canon, Nikon, Sony and Fuji and tested people to see which pictures they like the most, which has the best color and if you recognize which is taken with a Canon/Nikon/Sony/Fuji etc. Strangely people who were using canon all their life couldn't point out which picture was taken with a Canon :))) I will not say who was the overall winner, but it wasn't Canon.

keeponkeepingon: Shot with lenses costing $600, $900, $1000, and $2,500.

Hardly the lenses that will be used by most folks on this entry-level vlogging selfie camera.

How about a few pictures using.....

The lens that comes in the box? Is Sony really still selling that awful six year old antique 16-50 with modern cameras? If yes pull it out and show us what it can do on a modern body.

Or better yet.....

Why are there no pictures with Sony's decent affordable crop sensor glass such as the SEL50F18 or SEL35F18? (ok it is a short list but it is what it is)

It's all about being relevant dpreview. Those three lenses, the kit, 50 and 35 will probably be used in 80% of the shots with sony lenses taken with the A6400.

I don't imagine a lot of folks slap a $2600 Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM monster on this entry level selfie camera?

Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Please please please please

Show me a picture of y'all using the Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM to take a selfie with the A6400 Pretty please?????

Normal folk here! That old 16-50mm your talking about is the best lens APS-C lens. I have a Sigma 30mm F1.4 which is twice as sharp but I never use it. Besides sharpness it has no character. 16-50 very versatile and very compact, beautiful sunstars, good for video. Stays on my camera 90% of the time. I just wish they will release a F2.8 and it will stay 100% of the time :)

@MRDCHINA =)))) USA made its fortune with the help of CHINA. One country makes the product and another sells it. USA and China have a symbiotic relationship. You grew up together! Wake up! You think the iphone will have had any success with a 3000USD price and made in USA tag ?

Link | Posted on Dec 19, 2018 at 09:15 UTC

YES! Move it to US and make GoPro price 1500USD, also move the iphone factory to US and make the iphone price 3000 USD :D

That includes using the stupid stick on grip that Sony sells. Meanwhile, pick up a small Canon camera and see the stark difference in grip, comfort and security.

Phill, from your comment ''pick up a small Canon camera and see the stark difference in grip, comfort and security" the canon is just the right camera for you. Go for it!

Andrei C: For me the APS-C is currently the best in terms of size, price and performance.
I hope they release new lenses. I want a 16-50mm F2.8.

@Jefftan, for my kind of shooting I don't like how the Sigma perfoms. I have a 30mm 1.4 and never use it. I like to capture the sun in my pictures and the sigma renders is awful, the whole scene is very white and the sun is never round. As opposed to the sony which renders the scene very well, warm yellow, the sun is round at high aperture and nice sun star at low aperture.

HS-L: I've been using my XS since launch day, the smart HDR is horrible... in some occasions it's ok-ish, but I had to turn it off because exactly like in your example the most pictures are very ugly when Smart HDR is used. Even the normal HDR on the XS is horrible so for everything besides quick snapshots I use the Halide app because you can shoot RAW with that. Not ideal, but the only solution to be able to use the XS camera when I don't have one of my "real" camera's on me.

@MShot , USA make their money with the help of China. You are like brothers. :)) You have symbiotic relationship. Both of the countries have grown together. One makes the product and one sells it.
And yet you are in denial. One is democratic and one is communist and yet when it's about the money, best friends. :D Oh! But they are the bad guys and your are the good guys. Best marketing!

@ThomasIII You're afraid that the Huawei phone will spy on you? I understand you. It's ok, you're safe now, the iPhone will never spy.

I had an iphone and I was never pleased with my sunset pics. Than I bought a photo camera and never used again a smartphone camera. :)) I do have to thank smartphone cameras, if it weren't for their crappy imagine quality I would have never found my passion for photography. As I see it now, their image quality improved a lot. They are good enough for photographing people, but for landscape, not quite there.

Well I guess most of the common consumers aren't IT engineers, so it simple just to tell them AI.

ozturert: This will be the perfect camera if you:
- Never go above ISO400
- Rarely lift shadows in some software
- Can wait for loooooong write times
- Are OK with miserable battery life
- Want incredible details at ISO100 (with a good lens)
- Like Faveon-Sigma colours

I had Merrill DP2. I compared it with my D800 and Sigma Art 50mm f1.4. Man, those files from Merrill were unbelievable until ISO200. That lens is one of the best in terms of resolution, even at widest aperture. Colours were different, not necessarily better but I understand if one favours Sigma colours.
I hope Sigma can improve at least the battery life and shot-to-shot time.

You know you are talking about an old camera, you know nothing about the new one.
