  • That depends, if you buy a d7200 instead of a d850, it will be less expensive and pull 750mm equiv. magnification better than my d800. I know. I tested. A little bit better IQ than a d850. Inferior...

  • I could never achieve this quality! On the first I prefer natural light because I think the flash highlights her brow just above her left eye in a shiny, unflattering way... and the cheek.

  • This is a high-res landscape camera with sports camera aspirations. So what I would like to see is a continuous series of 9 images of jumping motorcycles, so we can all see how well the D850 AF...

  • My FF '510mm' is lighter though probably more expensive. It has two 'settings': 300mmF4 and 510mm F6.7. Stabilized to an uncanny degree. No zoom. Prime. SHARP.

  • The 85 1.8G suffers from a lot of logitudinal CA, that is absent in the 70-200mm F4. I prefer the latter for landscapes and the former for family gathering portraits indoors.
  • Created discussion thread Blue-throated hummingbird
My heart almost stopped when I heard this little bird and it started sucking nectar from a thistle flower just 7 feet away. I had my Nikon D800 + 300mm F4 PF + TC 1.7 ready lying on top of my ...
  • This works for any camera system with any other or same system lens. The reverse adapter adapts filter threads to a bayonet. So you can use the Canon lens on any Nikon if you feel so inclined. In...

  • I put my money where my thoughts are: a heavier and more fiddly but with dslr flexibility: No 4k video. Niko d7200, 8mm Samyang, 18-140mm, 300mm F4 pf + tc 1,7. ie up to 750mm very sharp and very...

  • The groundbreakiness of the d850 for me boils down to an immense improvement in AF over my d800. Even the d7200 is much quicker. Now I can have almost APS-c resolution of birds and bugs in the...

  • Hi there, Very interesting, thank you! Just wondering if downsizing would tend to decrease apparent noise? One way: Show us a 1:1 crop with some shadows, midtones and highlights at comparable iso's ...
  • amazing pictures!
  • I mounted the 300mm pf x 1,7tc on d7200 for 750 mm equiv. and no problem shooting bugs, squirrels, birds and landscapes in the desert in Utah (no wind, no dust... or else...). For birds an even ...
  • I hiked with 12, 24, 70-200f4, 300f4 pf + tc 1,7. I left the Tamron 15-30 + 150 mm filtdrs at home in preference to the 24 1,8 and 12 2.8 + 100 mm filters. I used all of them, i.e. from 12 to ...
  • just returned from Utah's desert where I carried 12, 24, 70-200 and 300mm pf. Covered all my needs from mountains, slot canyons, the Wave, and bugs and birds with the 1,7 tc on 300mm.
  • If you want fun with a sharp and light ultrawide try the Laowa 12mm f2.8 zero-D. It is mord fun than the Tamron 15-30, half the weight and takes a nisi 100mm filter adapter instead of the Tamrons ...
  • Just a thojght here: if you are interested in large bugs like dragonflies or just flowers not to 1:1 then the tc1.7x works extremely well with both the 2.8 and 4 version of the 70-200. You will ...
