On article Retro Nikon 'DF' emerges from the shadows (1391 comments in total)

When the DF mark 2 comes out, hopefully it will have video and built in flash... Then i will save $$ money to buy that.. :-).... If not the D800 or D610 are still good to play with.. Err... "Good enough" to use... This nikon DF is interesting only because of the retro styling, and more direct buttons..other than that.....

The dark red upper plate/trim/lens ring.. I just wish it was just silver or black as well..

webrunner5: Leica has just turned into a Whore as of late. They need to get a grip, no pun intended. What Goofball would pay for that.

I do not have a lightroom software..if i am in need of a camera like the LF1-- I might buy the Leica version.. you have to admit.. it looks a lot better than the LF1 (and I am sure the IQ will be the same..).. so if the LR 5 is $150-- that is just like paying $50 for a better looking camera..not because it has a red dot..

although I wish the LF1 or this leica version.. had a hot shoe..

tkbslc: It's only $200-300 more and it includes $150 software with it, making the true premium pretty small.

i will pay for the better looking camera not necessarily the red dot. (we all know it is a panasonic LF1-- but this leica version.. and all the rebadged panasonic cameras all look better than the regular panasonic camera... Image quality wise from both cameras.. for me both look the same.. ) . although I wish they added a hot shoe (or at least the LF1 had a hot shoe in the first place :-) -- I guess the Pana LX7 that has been rebadged would be the best way to go.. but.. financially for me.. not yet :-) i am not buying this camera yet :-)

tonitoni: I was so looking forward to this update. How in the world did they still not add a direct video button?

One little red button - could it be so hard?

As for the EVF, I know that depending on the refresh rate, it could be great or not - will have to wait and see.

I have been patiently waiting for an upgrade to my point and shoot - looks like P7900 perhaps?

I am hoping the FN button can be assigned for recording video.. like a red record video button...
or maybe we will need to wait for the P7900 LOL

So this is what most of us wanted the P series nikon coolpix to be in the first place.. Okay I am happy that this P7800 is a reality....

Now... I hope the next iteration.. It will start at 24mm-200mm, the EVF will have at least 1.2 or 1.3 million pixels just like the V1 or higher res :-)..

And maybe have a silver version (top plate) to make it look like a retro rangefinder camera :-). The current body styling is okay now.. But a little silver may not be a bad thing.. Maybe.. :-)

Now if nikon comes with a silver (top plate) version.. This would look retro.. And cooler!, :-) (maybe) ...

Finally .. The ideal high end nikon point and shoot!

Will the brackets fit the Phablets .. You know those big phones like the samsung Note 2?

Roland Karlsson: I think this might be a test if the market is ready for a phone with a real camera. Such a phone will be larger and clumsier. Are people willing to accept that? Such phones will be more expensive. Is that acceptable?

The samsung S4zoom... Is what i like.. Athough i would have liked my samsung Note 2 with a zoom lens as well...

I'm waiting to see what Fuji does for the X30

if the Fuji X30 has a red record/vudeo button.. that will be a plus, and a hybrid OVF/EVF like the X100/s :-)

JDThomas: As a bird lover I find it highly offensive that DPReview posted that 2nd photo.

How can they have the audacity to make that image viewable to the public knowing full well that at least 87.6% of "normal" human beings are adamantly against the death of innocent little birdies?

This is nothing short of promoting AVICIDE and I won't stand for it! I demand this post be taken down!

Shame on you Barney Britton for condoning birdie-bashing on a photography website!

is this sarcasm?

SunnyFlorida: He, he, he, Nikon changed the SB-N7 hot shoe to force users to buy 2 of the same flash, (1 for the Nikon 1-series + 1 for the D-SLR's) Incompatability = Profits

That is so true!!
