miggo: Hey guys.
Hope I'm not crossing a red line here, but I thought you might be interesting in checking Pictar's Mobile Photography Workshop.
I believe it will provide some answers to why we think there is a place for iPhone camera grip such as ours.

@miggo "recent comments on your Kickstarter page from people who have never gotten their grips. There are also a number of comments about phone over heating problems. Oh, and the app doesn't shot RAW either"
Ok miggo, what's your excuse?

Mike FL: "The Ektra's 21-megapixel sensor - the same 1/2.4in size IMX230 chip as found in the 2015 Moto X Play"

DPR forgot to mention its sensor size, the most impotent parts of a camera.

If it's impotent, smash some viagras on it :)

matthiasbasler: Strange: Again and again I have been told here on dpreview how much better smartphone cameras have become.
And now I read that it takes a Google engineer the effort to create a custom app and quite a bit of Photoshop magic in order to get images I can easily get from one shot with probably any recent APSC or full frame camera (for well below 1000US$).

This explains why most smartphone photos created by "normal people" which I have seen in the past years still looked poor in my opinion. (Details smeared away by noise reduction, greyish colors, often underexposed.) The typical John Doe will not set up a tripod, create multiple exposures, dark frames and likely has no idea what a DNG file is.

So this article mainly shows the obvious:
You have to know about photography in order to create high-quality images.

True...I can't wait to see your work, or fantastic pictures shot with your smartphone. Could you show us some?

This is about insidious rating system of Instagram. The picture received 485,000 likes only because it's NATGEO, it has about 74 millions of followers. If it's a picture on Average Joe's instagram, it would get....well, if he's lucky enough probably 9 likes!

Peiasdf: I love people with their short memories. Every year Apple came out with something new and everybody wants it but between the announcements, people forgot what Apple just did and start talking about no innovation, falling behind Google, etc.

iTune pay-per-track
iTune backup
Touch UI / swipe / pinch to zoom / Multi-Touch
Sealed in lithium polymer battery
Apps
Retina display
60fps UI
Metal frame / glass back
FaceTime
Aluminum unibody
Micro & Nano SIM card
Unidirectional plug
Siri
Touch ID
64-bit SoC
True-tone flash
Low motion video
3D Touch
NVMe storage
Apple Pay
Stereo speakers in waterproof body
2x optical zoom

And of course iPhone and iPad, products that started entire markets.

Name one other company that introduced an iPhone or iPad like revolution or a list half as long as Apple's.

Go ahead people, google it, google it, google it. Thank god for google!

Franz Weber: Samsung is shippig their phones with a cheaper image-sensor to certain countries such as the UK. The reason is kept well hidden, but obvious... with all the bad wheather and rain, what would you photograph in the UK anyways?

Cats and indoor flowers!

jaykumarr: I could not find sensor size any where. The features did not list what are the ranges for S/A/M or abilities like time lapse.
However this Kodak Ektra or Panasonic CM1 is better than iphone 7, which is thin, but you need to bulk it up. Otherwise can break from 5 ft drop into hard floor, will break from 5 ft drop into concrete floor; These cameras will allow you to edit photos you take, but iphone will not allow you to edit your photos from memory card.

Well don't drop it then! :) @jaykumarr

Hans vdC: I love Sony but I'm really gutted by this, having bought the a6300 at a very large premium due to price increases. And I would love IBIS for my Zeiss 24. Damn you Sony. Damn you. Feels like I bought a beta version :(

What does that have to do with XT2?

cdembrey: Because the Chinese are late to the game, they don't have any obsolete technology to protect. DJI's Phantom quadcopter changed the drone market, and their OSMO Mobile is set to change Vlogging and MoJo (Mobile Journalism) too.

I want one.

Late? I guess you never heard about Feiyu G4 and Zhiyun Z1.

OvinceZ: Samsung has lost the plot. I have the Note 4. Still not compelling to upgrade.
Note 5...yawn and disappointment.
Note 7...fancy gimmicks. Who would use Irises to open a phone? I used finger scan on my Note 4 and lost all data because it wouldn't open any more using that feature. Iris scanning is even more risky to use. Lunacy in technology.
Samsung probably include marketing experts in the research and development team and that is what is stopping innovation. All products are looking very similar now.
Remember how Apple insisted people wanted the smaller iphones?
When they released larger phones there was an instant demand for them.
Seems to me Samsung should be leading the way instead of following
Apple.

Lost all the data sucks, I've been there but it's not samsung's fault if you lost your data, it is advisable that we backup our data regularly.
Now all my messages are backed up every hour to my email. Pictures, videos and others are also automatically backed up in the cloud.

If you wonder how to make the ray of lights like in the picture, it's very easy with photoshop plugin, it's called RAYS http://www.digitalfilmtools.com/rays/. This picture is so cheesy and the fake rays were not carefully done. Anyway, congratulation!

meanwhile: I don't understand the people who name products.

Why, in 2015, when there are an entire range of products already called the A7 (made by a competitor in the same markets as you), would you call a new product the A7?

I don't understand either, I thought A7 was released last year like A5.

Eddy M: Tried the cc 2015 last week but it only loaded once then everytime I launched it, it crashed and crashed and crashed. Reinstalled, fix my graphic card driver, followed the helps from adobe forum but still didn't help. Yesterday, I uninstalled it for good!!!

My PC isn't new but it's i7 (4790) machine with 8gb ram and GTX 950 graphic card, I'm sure it's capable. I'll give it a try again since I really want to upgrade my aging cs2. Lightroom is fine though.
