Notwithstanding the outstanding capabilities of the D6, you might also consider a Z9, especially if you want to buy a new D6. The Z9 is $1000 less than a new D6, and can be shot in silent mode.

I had not heard of the problem on any widespread scale.  But I actually just experienced it firsthand upon discovering it was missing! It lasted 14 months, but it started loosening at about 9 months.

Just ordered one. Yes, pricey, but hopefully it stays in place better than the OEM part.

Hopefully you'll be very happy with your purchase. For an exotic prime, it's a great balance of weight, handhold-ability and sharpness. I currently use the 500E with both a D850 and Z9. Works ...
