carloduro: Let me see... According to the story, I "might want to give his method a go and see what happens".
Which "could" be good for me but surely it'll be good for Instagram.
Anyway, next time I have $150 to spare I'll buy a couple photo books by Erwitt, Scianna or Berengo Gardin. And those will be FULL of photos.
Besides, I'd never subscribe to a photo repository which can suspend my account for a beach pic of topless sunbathers. There are many more toplesses in the Vatican Museums.
Yeah, but you'd have to pay more than $150 for a print from the artists listed. Not an accurate comparison. Not many photographers can monetise Instagram without selling out. That's why this story is so interesting. It shows that quality work and a dedicated following can still trump brand jacking.
Allie701: This reminds me of the urban myth about the Neiman Marcus chocolate chip cookie recipe.
Only if Daniel Arnold denied that he made the money.
sh10453: What happened to good old journalism of verifying stories?
I hope DPR writers start taking Forbes stories with a grain of salt.
Look at his images, Lars, do you pay 150 cents ($1.50) for any of them?
Please use some common sense before reporting fiction like this.
How would you like to see it verified? He shows you the cash? I believe Daniel Arnold. Dedicated followers, excellent street photographs, a pitch, money made, offer removed from Instagram once expired. Cue online cynicism, denial and discrediting.
JANDY: You can't seriously look at these images and argue he has NO merit can you?

Ken Johnes, must be very vague, did you hit your head? Forget that you looked at my website? I must be a magician to inhabit two bodies at the same time on different sides of the world.

SonyAAA, no he's not a relative or a friend, he is a friend of a friend though. I don't think they are snapshots. Sorry. I understand why people thought they worth paying for.
GeorgeD200: Sorry, I know that art is in the eye of the beholder, but I wouldn't pay $150 for a set of ALLof his work, much less just one. It's no wonder he was broke. I'll admit that he does have a handful of interesting shots on instagram, but most if his stuff is average at best.
yep, there it is. I magically live in New York and Melbourne.
Jogger: "Brooklyn-based photographer Daniel Arnold whose checking account balance was getting alarmingly close to zero ..." .. must not be a very good photographer then. Sounds more like a charity case than anything.
I've seen lots of good work, some I get, others I don't. But I respect the artist that's made the effort. There is no such thing as real photography. I agree with your last statement.

He was broke, but his photography made him $15,000, so it's the reason he is not broke at the moment.
Zoofy: Elitism attracts the stupid..
He said, she said.
JANDY: Have you seen his photos? He is amazing.
I won't have a problem enjoying Arnold's new work. I wish him continued success.
