davel33's current gear

Canon EOS 7D Mark II
Canon EOS M5
Canon EF 24-105mm F4L IS II USM
Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM
Canon EF-M 11-22mm f/4-5.6 IS STM
Canon EF-M 15-45mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM
I use this with both the 7DII and M5. Its off the chart, bang for buck :)
Canon EF-M 18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM
Canon EF-M 22mm f/2 STM
Sigma 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM | C
This is a wonderful lens for the size and weight.
If you can only have one lens for a Canon M series camera this is it, its that good.
I really like this lens and it works GREAT with TC's. I took 238 shots of the eclipse on a M5 with the Sigma 2x EX TC.
Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM Art
Sigma 2x EX DG Tele Converter
Sigma 50-150mm F2.8 EX DC APO OS HSM
DPR readers choice award for best lens of 2013, what more can be said :) With the latest firmware (march 2018) I am changing my rating from 4.5 to 5.0
This 2X converter works on my 150-600 C with both my 7DII in LV and my M5 in LV/EVF. Also works great with the 50-150 OS with both LV/OVF on the 7DII and EVF/LV on the M5.
I use this lens for outside portraits and sporting events, it has not let me down :) It will be a cold day in hell before I ever sell this or the 18-35.
Tamron 100-400mm F4.5-6.3 Di VC USD
Tamron SP 35mm F1.8 Di VC USD
Samsung Galaxy S7 Active
Its sharp, the VC is great, the Focus is great on my 7DII but focus is not so hot on my M5. Oh and its Weather resistant.
After the Sigma 35 A and the Canon 35 IS this is the one for me. It checks ALL the box's. Sharp, OS and Weather resistant but has heavy back focus on my M5 :(
The touch on this is BAD at best. Some times it will work with my finger 1/8" from the display and some times I have to tap 10 times to get it to work.
Other gear:
  • Sigma TC-1401 1.4 ext
  • Canon 270EX II
  • Canon 320 EX The only flash that has focus assist for the M5.
  • Canon 430ex II
  • Canon BATTERY GRIP BG-E16 7D2
  • EF-EOS M x 2
  • GoWing Lens Flipper Google it :)
  • Herringbone Heritage Leather Camera Hand Grip Very nice hand grip
  • Movo GH800 Carbon Fiber Gimbal head
  • Peak Design Capture Pro
  • Peak Design Leash used on M5
  • Peak Design Slide used on 7DII
  • Reikan FoCal Pro
  • Sigma USB Dock In general the software for the dock is VERY basic to the point of being painful. It would be nice to be able to save lens profiles and edit them off line. As a starting point test for the MFA in the 4 corners and have the program do a linear interpolation for the other 12.
  • Slik 700DX Pro
  • Tamron A035TM Tripod mount for Tamron 100-400. The balance is off with this on the lens with a body like the 7DII. On a gimbal head it wont balance Even with lens in the 400mm position. Not a killer but it means I have to use a 4" plate to get the lens to balance on a gimbal.
  • Tamron Tap-In

Canon EF 28mm f/1.8 USM
Great little DLSR, would still have but gave it to my daughter :) Her husband shoots Nikon :(
The worst lens I have ever owned :(
Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM
Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM
Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Sigma 50mm F1.4 EX DG HSM
Sigma 24-70mm F2.8 EX DG HSM
I used this for 6 years. Was a great lens for event shooting on a 7DII :)
Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM
Canon EF-S 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 IS STM
Canon EF 40mm f/2.8 STM
The copy I brought was somewhat sharp but after the recall, the copy I got back was no where near as good :(
Great lens but no place to put my left hand :)
Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG HSM Art
Canon EF 35mm F2 IS USM
Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM Art
Liked this lens a lot but with the 18-35 1.8 (which is sharper) and the Tamron SP 35 , I did not need this lens.
This was a great lens at the FL I wanted but I needed a whether resistant lens. My voyage of discovery for the perfect 35 for me started with the 35A then 35 IS and ended with the Trmron 35 SP :)
I really loved this lens but I never used it enough to justify the cost.
Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5–5.6 IS STM
Sigma 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM Art
Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM
Great lens but retired and don't have a use for it now. Sharpest lens I have ever owned.
It is a very good lens just not as good as the Tamron. The killer for me was very little weather resistance :(
