Michiel953: Halfway through the gallery (on a decent calibrated screen), and they are impressive. Compliments to the photographers for presenting such a well thought out range of well observed images.

Now how much is a Pen-F, 24, 35, 50 and 85 "EQUIVALENT" set-up, at this f1.2 quality level again?

@ ZEBebito....Try again! I know you will get there....eventually, newbie. And by the way WTH is "we"?

HB1969: This image could grace the pages of a glossy magazine. Well done and congratulations on the win!

Thank you, HB1969! I am working towards being hired and published.

Are you a magazine editor by any chance? LOL!

Have a great day!

junk1: Can the sensor be slowly shifted to track stars? I think at least one camera has that feature???

Exactly!

Not so impressive compared to the "humble" Olympus E-M5 mk2

How is this a winner, admin? How about you put attention to the background, lighting and reflection? It clearly uses 2 different cameras in the picture?

Yes, he is. Pity he does his workshops in the UK. But you learn a lot from him just by watching online.

Yes... huge visor on a helmet. Better have a strong neck to carry all that weight.

princecody: $1200 for 17mm lol while Panasonic Leica 15mm is ONLY $500?

Thing is, these are NOT Digital 35mm lenses, meant to fit a Digital 35mm body. These are Micro Four Third lenses meant to fit a Micro Four Third body. So no, it is NOT a 35mm f2.4 is a 17mm f1.2 Get your sh¡t right.

“We’re continuing to raise the bar for innovation in the imaging marketplace, in particular with our full-frame camera lineup,”

Sony still catching up to Olympus for innovative photographic features.

Photo_AK: A 24-200/8 equivalent lens .... ideal for taking pictures, that look like being taken with a compact camera ...
Tamron 28-300 takes 4 mm on the wide end and gives 100 mm more on the tele end; is a full frame compatible lens, weighs less, is smaller, cheaper, takes smaller filters and offers lesser DOF - all while being equaly "fast" or "faster" in the 28-200 mm range.

So, what's the point, really ...?

Keep telling yourself that to mitigate your envy.

Angrymagpie: $1200USD for a MFT standard prime... That price is so not MFT.
I think most would be happy to stick with summilux 25 f1.4..

You are mistaken. I would buy a Zuiko over any other Summilix.

Seeing that you shot this at f4.4 I'm going to assume you shot this on P mode. No wonder you gave it a silver award.

Mind your WB.

abortabort: The 300mm f4 is not the equivalent of a 600mm f4, or if you want to argue that it is (which I'm NOT here to do either way) then the Fuji 16mm f1.4 is not a 24mm f2.1. Again can't be bothered for arguing either camp however it would be good if there was some consistency. Generally DPR do equiv FL and f-ratio, which is why I'm pointing it out here.

Shoot the same scene with a FF 600mm and a300mm on a m43,
you will achieve the same reach.

Do that again with a FF 300mm and a m43 300mm
the FF will not achieve the reach of that of the 300mm m43

Period. End of discussion!

Did everything you said it would make the image appear sharper, well... still very soft. And I comment on this particular image where there is no evident sudden movement.

Images are great though, congrats!

On article What is equivalence and why should I care? (2469 comments in total)

This is so stupid!

First of all, Micro Four Thirds IS NOT a cropped sensor, BUT a format of its own, read and repeat, a format of its own, just like Medium Format, just like 35mm.

The only cropped sensor is the APS-* type that uses FF lenses on a smaller sensor than that of 35mm.

Micro 4/3 lenses are made for the Micro 4/3 sensor there for NOT making it a cropped format but a FF, yes, read and repeat, FORMAT OF ITS OWN.

And please, F2 is F2 on ANY format, just like going 40mph is going 40mph no matter what you are driving or riding.

STOP misleading and confusing people.
