Triplet Perar: On DPR was published a rumour that Ricoh is thinking into shutting down camera business "because of the losses". DPR published Ricoh's reply too, but went no extra mile, no extra 20 articles to dig more, see what is going on, because, imagine!, DPR may fear they may loose some valuable audience? Does DPR care about users of Ricoh's and Pentax cameras that come to DPR?

But there is TONS of coverage about one camera from one manufacturer. How disproportionate is that — care about one single product vs the future of an entire manufacturer and majority of their products?

That is one example I used to state DPR lost balance and reporter's cool. So instead of DPR, users of Ricoh Imaging's equipment must dig more, investigate what is the truth. In Ricoh's latest annual report, camera business division marked increase of sales (!) in fact. And, Ricoh is to repurpose some compact cams plants, and that is shown as cost, of course. How that squares with words in rumours? Who cares for truth?

Peiasdf: Anyone remember the marketing spin Samsung gave when rumor begin to go around Samsung is leaving photography? Yeah, Ricoh is doing the same spin to clear stock.

Japanese photography insiders know for a while Pentax is going under. Tamron and Sigma haven't made any lens for Pentax even thought that sounds like free money.

(...) Yeah, Ricoh is doing the same spin to clear stock.(...)

I'm tired of people proclaming this kind od sentence: it's coming from their imagination, but it's said like a intanglble truth.

Get a life.

In reply to:

A Curious Passer By: Ricoh Pentax 645Z has enjoyed added publicity, all thanks for FujiFilm GFX. Not bad for a 3-year old camera which competes very well against the latest offerings. Battery life is a low point for the GFX, with a CIPA rating just over half what the 645Z can manage.

Overall, the GFX is still a great camera worthy of a gold medal.

Many says ?

I've never heard about it.

With a K200D and a mediocre sigma 70-300 in a Swiss Motocross contest in 2009 :

I have hundreds of sharp pics made with that setup, but it doens't mean than the AF was fast (it wasn't...), but than i know how yo place and use my camera for such event with a sluggish AF.
Pre-focusing is the most important part of the trick.

maksa: Well, we have how the excellent K-3 II and almost no lenses to use with it. Sigma abandoned K-mount, while Pentax introduces large and expensive full-frame lenses. And yes, updates its 55-300mm each few years. Disappointing.

Petroglyph, you've forget the magic triplet : FA 31, 43 & 77.

Karroly: Why is the D FA* 50mm F1.4 much bigger than the SMC FA 50mm F1.4 ?
Built-in AF motor ?
Additional glass elements/groups to improve IQ ?
OIS ?

Optics for digital cameras requires more lenses to avoid and treat chromatic abberations.

Try again...
Shoting with a vintage FA 85 f1.4 wide open gives better results than a Canon 85 f1.2 mkII :

MrALLCAPS: I know this is gonna get the fanboys upset, but in my opinion...

Panasonic should buy Nikon.

Panasonic's direct rival is Sony. Sony brought Minolta, and look where they're at now.
Panasonic sided with Leica, but has received unwarranted hate from photogs, due to lack of photo history, WHICH is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.

If Panasonic were to absorb Nikon, not only would they save it, but improve on them, with one of the best video tech. Canon would be forced to improve their tech.

You know I'm right...

" They own mirrorless right now. ".

Nop, just check bcn ranking for 2016, for mlc, sony is behind Oly & Canon :

Peiasdf: Get a RX100 or G7 X series camera. Those have way faster lenses, better sensor and are far more compact.

Apples & oranges, what append if you want to chage the lens on those cameras ?

Italian designers ? Like the ones who "design" the Hasselblad Lunar ?
