TheLastMan's current gear

Pentax K-5
Pentax smc DA 18-135mm F3.5-5.6ED AL [IF] DC WR
Pentax smc DA 35mm F2.8 Macro Limited
Second DSLR (Dec 2011) My ideal camera. Only limited by my skill and the lens I put on it.
Good all-rounder. Reputation for variable quality but I have a good copy. AF is very quick, accurate and quiet. This is the lens I leave on the camera.
Fantastic lens. Small, super-sharp, great colour and contrast, brilliant macro, beautifully made. The lens I use for small objects, natural scenes (rather than buildings and towns) and still life.
Pentax smc DA 55-300mm F4.0-5.8 ED
Tamron AF 28-75mm F/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF)
Great focal range. Sharp if stopped down a tad. Solid build. AF hunts a bit. Works best in TAv mode where I can set the shutter speed and aperture and let sensitivity change. Otherwise my shots tend to blur through camera shake or too shallow DOF.
Good general portrait and walkaround lens. Very sharp and fast. Not wide enough on APS-C for much landscape / streetscape work. It is my lens for photos of people.

TheLastMan's previous gear

Canon PowerShot A40
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W1
Pentax K100D
My first digital camera (Nov 2002). Retired to a box in the loft.
Second digital camera (May 2004). Bought for wife, used by whole family. Got dropped and developed faults. Now in recycling heaven.
First DSLR (June 2007) A great camera, sadly stolen.
Pentax smc DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL
Pentax smc DA 50-200mm F4-5.6 ED
Pentax smc DA 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 AL WR
Kit lens stolen with the K100D
Sold. Poor lens, only redeeming features was it was small, light and cheap! Replaced by 55-300, miles better optically.
Sold. Not enough reach for my taste these days. Replaced by far superior 18-135.
