Well, these comments seem heavily trolled...

Tazz93: Conspiracy Theory:

This type of thing will simply kill stock photography. Stock has been on its knees for the last 10-15 years anyway, but this will completely end it... if Unsplash can hold out long enough. This isn't a exactly cheap to do, Photobucket has proven that and Flickr is feeling it. But, once there are enough photos and the company is well known, it will be a monopoly, and then they can choose to charge people once again.

It can cost more to pay a designer to sort through random photos than it costs to hire a photographer.

Baba Ganoush: I assume anyone who posts an objection here to the idea behind Unsplash also objects to free computer software and would never download freeware from the Internet for their own use, especially if they might use it in a way that was commercially beneficial to them. Amirite?

That's kind of the point though isn't it? Photographers spend thousands of dollars on equipment and software. No need to give investment and labor to someone making money on it. Really crap analogy.

Probably the best thing to do would be to give all your really crappy photos away. The stock companies with the highest amount of photos are also the cheapest. They are also the most expensive for companies to use as it takes hours to find a decent photo or even a photo with enough usable content.

herbymel: I better start entering this contest, especially if that swan shot can come in second place. Most of what I was seeing there wasn't as impressive as what I was expecting and many of the photos I've seen on here were better than what was considered a winner there.

I don't know if or how much the contestants got paid, but I do get the feeling NG is not as good to their photographers as they were. Murdoch bought them out a couple years ago. I went to enter a contest a while ago and the terms were not good. I decided not to enter. I googled a bit and there are unhappy photographers. Maybe some decided to stay out of the contest.

"Gattoni has not properly pled the pre-requisite element of a copyright infringement claim."

She or her lawyer did not file the case (define the issue) correctly. Does not effect other cases so much because of that.

One can still sue and make sure the issue of *future* registered copywrite is included in the filed complaint.

I also think the judge wasn't very helpful here. For anyone.

Wow. The more I look the more I like. Very Zen indeed. Perfect composition, perfect treatment. Am I reading too much into this or is the composition a moving peace symbol? I like how the column is offset just enough from the center ground line to shift all movement. Details and contrasts are rhythmically very pleasing; Satisfying.
