I can echo what NAwlins Contrarian wrote. I just sold my old 3800, which still printed but the black ink switch valve was gone. With partial ink tanks, and three new-in-box ink carts, I sold it for ...

Yes you can, as many do. Personally, I use OEM inks for the quality. Check out Jose's site on youtube here . He is quite knowledgable about the Pro 1000 and is somewhat of an expert on refilling ink.

Rolen, I was where you are. After a good long life, my Epson 3800 died gracefully. For the past year it developed paper feed issues then the black ink switch valve went. As I looked at options, as ...

Many here will be interested in (hopefully) your future posts on your print test results. The paper sounds intriguing.

Golly, I thought I was the only one to make an embarrassing goof like this. ;-)

I have used Qimage on my mac for years, and have not experienced what you describe. My understanding is that Ultimate is a Windows app, so may differ somewhat from Mac. I would follow the ...

I whole-heartedly echo and agree with the other respondents. I moved from Epson last year for the exact reason you state. Could not be happier with the Canon 1000!

All the above is sound advice. As pigment ink printers need to be used, IF you do want to keep a printer for convenience "at the ready", you may want to consider one with dye based inks.

This can become a deep rabbit hole that one does not easily come out from. For perspective, I was an Epson user, and did appreciate the quality of ink and permanence of prints. However, as my last ...

Precisely! Exactly correct... one cannot, nor should one want to prevent, regular cleaning cycles. This is the cost of printing, and a reason why Canon printers have a reputation for not clogging. ...

There is an option in the printer settings for the printer not to shut off.

Indeed, I too never shut my Pro 1000 off. I have it plugged into a UPS, guarding against surges and such. Just last week the power went out and I had adequate time to turn the printer off. I ...

No worries... I do it all the time. ;-) By the way, thanks for a great product in Qimage!

I use the Photoshop plug in feature for my NIK filters. Admittedly, it was not necessarily intuitive, but does work. What helped me is the understanding that one has to 'install' the NIK filters ...

Unless I am doing something wrong, I cannot open afphoto files in Qimage, which is why I save them as layered tiff files. Please advise if I have an error here... obviously this will be of great ...

I had an email communication with the developer of Qimage regarding a plugin for Affinity. It's been a while and can't remember the exact reason, but it had to do with a tech issue on Affinity's ...

I'm not an expert, but as a Canon 1000 owner, I can offer some suggestions to try. First, persons wiser than me have warned against borderless printing since the print heads sprays ink off the edge ...

I'll echo everything that Rob said. I too just switched from a 17+ year run with Epsons to the Canon Pro 1000. The quality is top notch and print output is stellar. The quagmire with printing is ...

I have been using Qimage One (mac) for years and value its features. If you purchase it, it's cheaper in the long run to buy the lifetime license. The short answer to your basic question is nothing ...

Epson 3800 -- Free I have an Epson 3800 that I bought in 2005. It has seen light to moderate use, and the black ink switch is failing. The printer still operates but is not printing black and is ...
