A video oriented R5 firmware update is due out this week so who knows. I doubt it’s a hardware limitation but rather a choice on canon’s part.

No but if you slow it to 80% it’s still buttery smooth in a 24fps timeline. There is new firmware with video updates expected this week however.

Only in full frame mode. In crop mode 120FPS in HD is the limit. If there is some combination of settings to override I haven’t heard of them.

Both full frame 4K and crop mode 4K are using a 5.1k section of the 8K sensor so you are still getting full 4K in both modes.

No because crop mode 120FPS would have to upscaled to 4K. The 4K120 would also have to be upscaled (less) to match the crop factor. But the better choice at 120FPS is to shoot without the crop ...

4K120 is only available in full frame mode. Once you enable cropping the only high Framerate mode is HD at 120FPS. I’m looking at it on my R5 now to confirm and I don’t see a way to get around it.

In crop mode, 120P recording is limited to HD not 4K. but there is a video oriented firmware update coming out for the R5 this week so things could change.
