Light Pilgrim: It is a joke, right? I have 5D MKIII, so I am not interested and not concerned. But I am surprised and I actually think that Nikon took an upper hand now over Canon.
D800/D800E - very strong
D4 - very strong
D600 - much more attractive than D6

Granted, 1Dx and 5D MKIII are superb Cameras, but there is no innovation, no leap frog from Canon.

And....they for some reason price premium over competitive products from Nikon.

What is D6?

Canon 6D is more attractive. GPS, 1/8000 and great quit mode it gots.

It was a time when Canon gave us more (specs) for less (money). But this time Canon just has to make a good move to answer Nikon+Sony symbiosis .

harald moers: That new H5d is outstanding camera. Problem of price? With 20 K $ or 15 K €, you can just buy an average car like VW Golf or an Used old Bmw. You can not buy a Porsche 911 that costs 90 K €. And a car gives no income money. If you have good customers in photography (advertising, fashion, industry...) your Hassy of 20 K $ will give you more money back...than a Porsche ! ;-) so long..

Hey, Harald. My cat doing better shots when playing with my phone.

maniax: Will it be better then my 8x10 ?

not even close in terms of resolution.
not even better then film hassel. It won't work at -10 C, and it battery would exhaust very soon. And if it suddenly falls on the rocks, or water....

This is for studio, only. Nobody will take it to the mountains.
Hasselblad X5 cost 20K $. And you can buy lots of cameras for saved money: from Xpan to 617 panoramic.
My 617camera is 160Mpx equivalent and I can take it everywhere.

Nishi Drew: Like "full HD" being the norm now, just a few years later we will start seeing affordable 4k cams, and eventually a 4k smartphone (if anyone needs that much resolution for anything...).

For watching, 720p is plenty enough, for editing of course the more the better, but still the more res means more prcosessing and on and on the usual digital flow

All I want is uncompressed video, 1080p is great... oh wait, where the heck's my uncompressed video for the 5d Mk3, Canon!?

both compressed and uncompressed video from 5D is not sharp. No sense in uncompressed.

AshMills: Looks like a good move to me, undermines the BMD Cinema camera a bit, since the C300 is way to much ££ and has the excellent same all important chip.

Uncrippled HDMI out if you need it, 50P would be useful.

To compare the GH2 for many tasks to this is somewhat silly.

This C100 and C300 is silly for many task. The price is close to true digital cinema camera, like Red One, which gives you RAW output and high fps.

Who are these "independent videographers" who can buy this camera for 8000? Most will stay with Panasonic GH2(the best sharp choise), Canon 60D or 5DM2. 8000$ can be all the budget of videographer, and they must buy one or two additional camera, lenses, sound...

shaocaholica: Most of the key feature list can be added in firmware to existing and future Canon DSLRs. Thousands of dollars for a measly few lines of code is not cool.

Cinema sensor is completely different type. It don't miss pixels as DSLR in video mode. That's why Digital Cinema camera has sharp output.

More and more people on the street walking with film cameras, today. Most of my friends switched to film. I use digital for videography only. Film is dead? Ha-ha.
Just a poor management. There are lots of great film made by Fuji, if Kodak won't.
There is no digital to compare with my Fuji TX-1 and Gaoersi 617, which is 160Mpx. (ISO 1600!)
I wish Nikon resume its film scanners production.
