In DSLRs we have to have that spacer to make room for mirror but in ML we dont.
so why dont make a lens without that spacer. Imagine you packing ML system, 3 lenses and a body....

these are all EF lenses with builtin MC11 which make the look weird. some sony lenses also look the same, seems initially designed for DSLR and then adopted to ML.

Sony FE 85mm F1.8 is a new and extreemly sharp lens. Nikon 85mm 1.8G is also new and much sharper than 25 years old canon 85mm 1.8 which cost less than half of other 2 lenses from sony and Nikon....

not even a question, go for nikon, faster and focus better sharper at tele end and 500mm and 600mm are not hugely different.

they probably can do it with periscopic kinda technology as they have done it before (asus did it if I m not mistaken) but the implementation was kinda poor.

I believe it is not fixable in firmware update. it is a physical artifact caused by reflection of the light from phase detection sensors micro lens. they probably can jerryfix it using software...
