back in 2015 I bought sigma 18-35 1.8 for my 70D canon and the AF was horrendous in both Viewfinder and liveview and the Sigma dock was not helping at all.
tried few different copies on 70d and 80d and the AF issue was there regardless.

Any update about this lens? did sigma address this issue?

I came here to rant about 1.8 and price, but man, this is the sharpest lens I've ever seen. Not only sharp but with great boken and contrast. well done Nikon.
indeed we have a new benchmark.

CanonSharpShooter: Would a 70-200mm f2.8on full frame be better than the medium format with this lens?

@uMad how do you know GF lens is probably sharper? maybe it is not. show me some comparison. infact there are some comparison out there already. D850, A7riii both produce better image than current GFX kinda dated sensor.
MF is better but in studio with plenty of light given that their lens is sharper than FF lens (I highly doubt)

wish to see dxomark review on these GFX lenes.
wondering how much they can resolve from 50MP GFX sensor.

Pixnat2: Today, "liars" are called "influencers".
"contacts" are called "friends"
"addictive" medias are called "social" medias.
At first, this orwellian newspeak may seem harmless. But this process softly distort reality, and alter your ability to distinguish what's true or not. Dangerous.
Hopefully, there's a very simple solution : quit social medias.

what kinda BS influencer is?
is so BS even google marks is as spelling error

maxmarra: these are all EF lenses with builtin MC11 which make the look weird. some sony lenses also look the same, seems initially designed for DSLR and then adopted to ML.

I want to know if this type of design cause drop in light ? I mean does it increase T stop??

just want to make myself clear. the distances you talking about is from aperture blades to sensor not the actual rear element, right??

Yeah I understand,
In DSLRs we have to have that spacer to make room for mirror but in ML we dont.
so why dont make a lens without that spacer. Imagine you packing ML system, 3 lenses and a body. literally you carrying 3 lenses + 3 adapter + body which kinda ends up bigger and heavier that DSLR equivalent (3 lenses + body with integrated adapter "flange distance") . I know, point of ML is not weight and size but it could be great if they really take the weight and size seriously

On article Sony a7 III Review (2193 comments in total)

Sony FE 85mm F1.8 is a new and extreemly sharp lens. Nikon 85mm 1.8G is also new and much sharper than 25 years old canon 85mm 1.8 which cost less than half of other 2 lenses from sony and Nikon.

I strongly believe this issue plays important role in image quality comparison.
It would be nice that dpreview change the test lens to sigma 85 mm 1.4
this lens is super sharp capable to resolve the sensor performance better than those lenses they currently use. so sensor sharpness will not be retarded by lens limitation.

V Ahrlenz: Those who choose Nikon are just better people all around, and in every way - wiser, more talented, rich in character, and gifted with superior intelligence. When the social credit system is implemented Nikon shooters surely will get the highest scores and enjoy the most freedoms and prestige.

canon shooters voted for Trump mostly.

wetsleet: When the first optical zoom appears on a regular mobile phone form factor (so not the "mobile cameras" like Samsung K), I'll be pretty excited. Or I would be, if I knew about it. But with all these pretenders with twin fixed-focal length lenses being touted as *optical* zooms (yes even here on DPR), how will I ever know when the real thing turns up? What will they call it; a "real optical" zoom, or what?

they probably can do it with periscopic kinda technology as they have done it before (asus did it if I m not mistaken) but the implementation was kinda poor.
i really wish apple or sumsung involve with this optical zoom thing.

have a look
