boinkphoto: The vanilla iMac is probably fairly cost competitive given the high quality screen. However, at $14k I would find it hard to believe you couldn't build your own Windows PC that would meet or blow the doors of the iMac Pro.

I say that as a Mac lover and typing on a Mac at the moment.

<<OK, it's more expensive, but for a pro that just means you get $14K knocked off your tax bill rather than $8K>>

@peterwr, that's not how tax write-offs work. You don't get to knock $14k off your tax bill. You can only subtract the $14k from your business' income, thereby lowering your taxable income. With lower taxable income, you will pay less tax, but not $14k less... maybe only 1/3 of that if you're lucky. And that's only true if you can prove you use your the iMac 100% of the time for business. If you use it part of the time for personal use, you can only deduct the percentage of the time it's used for business. And if that percentage falls below 50%, then you can't even write off the entire amount in a single year. You're forced to depreciate the iMac over 5 years, meaning you can only write off 20% per year for the next 5 years.
TL;DR Buying an expensive computer for work isn't as big a tax write off as most people think.

I scored a 9 out of 10. Image 6 tripped me up. I said it was not altered but I guess it was. I can't remember which image it was though, and they don't show you the images again at the end of the test. I'm really curious now.

In reply to:

snapa: The phone is a bit too large and the pictures are not that good. Some people (like me) do not want or need such large phones. I also think the Google Pixel with its 5" screen is a better phone. Also, the Google assistant seems like a nice feature to have.

BTW, it's hard enough to make an UWA lens for any camera, much less a camera phone! I mean, how much do those plastic lenses on that phone cost anyway?

Google Assistant is available on all Android phones running Marshmallow and Nougat, including the LG G6. See here: https://blog.google/products/assistant/google-assistant-coming-to-more-android-phones/
Also, the G6 is not as big as you think. It's smaller than it looks in photos, despite having a 5.7" screen. Due to having very thin bezels and a tall but narrow screen, it's only about 2mm wider than the Google Pixel and only about 5mm taller. Plus it's thinner than the Pixel. Hold one and you'll be surprised how small it is.

wtang: Why is there a need for an news article like this to "sell" people on the new iPhone 7? There hasn't been a similar article to try to and "sell" people on the merits of any other smartphone. Why does the iPhone 7 need and get this kind of editorial promotion/marketing? Just genuinely curious.

The title sounds like it's trying to sway public opinion. That's what I find odd. I mean, has DPR ever written other articles with titles such as "Think this new Canon XXX is boring/crappy? Well here's 10 reasons why it's actually fantastic!" See my point? It's salesmanship.

PeaceKeeper, I don't live under a rock, so I fully realize that iPhones are very popular phones. That wasn't the point of my question. I'm asking why there is an article (this article) trying to "sell" people on why the iPhone 7 is a fantastic device. Look at the title of the article. "So you don't care about the iPhone 7?... etc." The article seems to imply the iPhone 7 is lacking public interest and is therefore giving 10 reasons why the public SHOULD be interested in this phone. I find that motivation somewhat odd. Is DPR trying to help sell iPhones? Since the iPhone is already so popular, is this help even necessary? That's all I'm saying. This seems more like a sales and marketing article than a genuine review.

tecnoworld: Incredible what you can do with an obsolete, small sensored, low end camera. Really good! Bravo!

The A2 was really good in its time, and still not bad today. I have an A200 and still use it occasionally for nostalgia. In good light it still takes sharp detailed photos with great color, but anything over ISO 100 is noisy and focus is slow.

Beautiful! You say this was taken before sunrise. What is the light source on the rock formation on the left? It is brighter than the rocks on the right. Just curious.
