teos: I am a pixel-peeper, picture and pixel quality looks EXCELLENT to me!

The EF-M 28mm 3.5 is a good cheap lens for the M series.

IamToddNorris: Why's everyone so bitter this camera didn't get an award? Should it get an award for the last aps-c dslr from canon? You think canon's going to start popping out new ef-s lenses to resolve that 32 mp sensor? The only decent, fast and wide ef-s lens is the 17-55 f2.8 and that was released in 2006 with the 30d. An 8.2 mp sensor camera. If canon releases a new aps-c lens it'll be for their "m" line not "ef-s". The lucrative "rf" mount will get resource priority.

(cont..)

Have you tried the R firmware upgrade 1.40. It may change your view of the R.

KW Phua: Canon have improve a lot, but it is just catch up with other, so forget about the medal. As long as good for you is enough.
As for OVF, 3D tracking(Side way) is not the strong pt for Canon, even the 1Dx also not good.
Most Canon shooters use fixed AF point/s to track the subject.
For fast moving forward and backward, I still like the Canon.
On EVF, easily missing head or wing.

Crikey.. maximumeffort methinks you protest too much.

wsalopek: I've been a life long Canon fan, but no longer. This camera as well as the EOS RP and the M6 mkII should be ignored on principle. Canon's deliberate crippling of video (no 24fps) is simply wrong. It's just greed. What they fail to see is when they exclude entry-level filmmakers from buying their product, they ALSO lose that filmmaker when they are ready to upgrade. So instead of forcing folks to buy their more expensive cameras now, they are losing them forever. It's just so sad to see Canon do this. It's sickening.

Maximumeffort - what you just described is akin to DPR's bike test. And by the way, you didn't describe it correctly..

Fergus Ferguson: I wanted to replace my 70D, but if it can't focus there doesn't seem to be much point.

It's not denial, it's real world experience.

Having shot with the 80d for over 3 years, my experience is that the AF performs better than what DPReview has claimed. I expect that the 90d will also perform better than the review based on this experience.

I am in no rush to replace my 80d because it still performs exceptionally but see the 90d as a worthy upgrade.

Pullmyfinger: How disappointing that the AF performance is subpar when using the VF. I was looking forward to replacing my 70D with the 90D. I shoot lots of dog shows, many shots while the handler is running the ring so I need good action AF.

Some people have never used a 80d so I'm not sure why they bother to comment

I use the 80d a lot for wildlife and birds. The 80d's AF performs very well in these applications. That is my experience. I would not agre with DPReview's views on the pros and cons.

I use a 80d and its AF is much better than what DPReview claimed in their review. I expect that the 90d will be better with the iTR enhancements.

My daughter has a SX60 and considers that usually its all the camera she needs (she is no mug with a camera and has studied photography - just doesn't like lugging around DSLRs and lenses).

She will be excited about this upgrade.

IlyaA: It is a shame – moire and bad sharpness. Same behind the times old sensor from 5dm4 with AA-filter. Show this in the end of 2018? Facepalm.

Hmm.. Having used the 5D4 on a number of occasions, I have no idea what you are talking about....

Looking at the sample gallery, the R takes a very good photo. Isn't that what it's meant to do.

ShaiKhulud: Joking aside though:
- Still no video improvements
- No AF improvements
- It's still easier to recover Thai kids from the underwater cave than to recover shadows from 6D mk2 RAW.

I mean, for a few months 6Dmk2 is here to compete with A7-3 for a very similar price tag. Show some dedication at least with FW updates (weak point for Sony). But judging by the updates, not only sensor, but the CPU was a missed opportunity for mk2.

What's overpriced about the M50?

Georgescanvas: This lens seems alright and much cheaper than offerings from the big two... So why doesn't this thread contain thousands of comments ?

It looks a good lens but I wouldn't describe the price differential as "much cheaper". Its about $300 cheaper than the equivalent canon although if IS isn't important to you, the non-IS Canon version is usually about $100 cheaper than this lens.
