SGM23: Reviews/Comments are so difficult to decipher, so many differences of opinion, so many pros/cons of each camera. I guess that's what makes the world go round...So, what is a consumer to do? What camera should I take to Alaska for example? Something I can carry comfortably during an active trip. As an amateur I think I know my iphone is not going to take the landscape or wildlife photos I want, but I also know I don't have the time nor the inclination to understand every nuance of fine photography. However, I do want the manual options as I become more educated...So I am considering the camera above, bad choice? Decisions..Decisions. I posted a similar comment in another area but it was an older discussion. Thanks in advance for any thoughts...

Did two weeks in AK last summer, carrying my Sony a6000 with a Sony 18-200mm lens. Great travel combination; fits in a small Lowepro bag easily carried over the shoulder. The 24mp APC sensor left plenty of room for cropping too. Took it hiking, kayaking, and on bus tours. Very happy with results. Have a great trip!

Glad this had a happy ending, but...did you have him sign a model release form?
