I got my first SLR in the summer of 1978, a Minolta XG-7. I later owed the following Minolta film cameras: XD-11, X-570, Maxxum 7000, Maxuum 9000, Maxxum 9xi, Maxxum 800si, Maxxum 7. The first digital SLR I owned was the Maxxum 7D. When Sony took over Minolta in 2006, I stayed loyal to the Minolta successor, acquiring the Sony A100, followed by the Sony A700. When my wife wanted a DSLR for her birthday in 2008, we decided to get her a Nikon D90. I liked her D90 so much I got one of my own in early 2009! Since then we have been a Nikon household. I sold all my remaining Minolta/Sony gear in 2012. I would describe myself as a snapshooter who likes to use good equipment for my photographic interests, which focus primarily on 1) shooting candid shots at social events, mostly with my church, 2) photographing the sport of swimming at competitions (I am a master swimmer), and 3) photographing scenes of places we travel. I am not heavily into post processing, having shot mostly JPEG until owning the Nikon D7200 in 2015. Since having the D7200, I have shot mostly RAW + JPEG. I prefer to edit RAWs with Nikon Capture NX-D.
